She left the hospital weighing 5 pounds 11 ounces.
This picture barely catches the emotion of the moment. Holding her for the first time was truly sacred.
Mommy spent some time loving on her fur baby before introducing them to each other.
Some of my friends who have walked with us through this journey made her a prayer quilt. Each knot and square was prayed over. Oh how I love these people!
Due to a low body temp she wore several layers.
The cap was knitted by Providence UMC Care team members.
Can you believe that she is a preemie? She is now turning her head from one side to another and lifting her legs and arching her back almost to the point of flipping on her side. I honestly kid you not!
I can't begin to express what I feel. Maybe when I'm home and all is quiet I'll be able to better articulate what is in my heart.
Thank you for allowing me to take a break. I'm a little busy right now.
Congratulations!!!! No more to say than that really!! Totally wonderful for you all, and especially Harper of course who looks incredibly happy to be home and surrounded by her loving and wonderful family. Take as long as you need and love and cherish every moment - which I am sure that you have been and are doing already! xx

Oh how sweet. The picture in the monkey suit looks like this little one has quite the personality. She is a doll. I kind of no how you feel. Our fist granddaughter's birth was an emergency. Her little heart stopped. We don't know for sure how long but at least 3 minutes to get her out. The doctor that was grabbed and pulled in to do the emergency C. was shocked. He said he didn't know what to do. The nurse grabbed her and ran from the room. She gave her a shot in the chest and did CPR. Her little chest was all bruised. Her legs were a mess. We were told that at least one was dislocated. Her Apgar was a 1. That means a warm body that's all. She was placed in the NICU. She was called the queen of the NICU weighing almost 9 pounds. She only stayed in there 1 day. I was with her mama when the nurse came in to talk to her. She knew that we were unaware of how serious it had been. She explained and our hearts fell on the floor. She was monitored for a short time to see if she had any delays. She kept passing milestones with flying colors. When I look back on that day it is scary. Her mama was so upset because she couldn't see her. I handed a nurse my camera and asked her to take a picture so she could see her baby. The nurse looked at me like I had lost my mind. She said "Now is not the time for a picture." I had no idea. Our little baby is 11 now. She is sweet, nice and loved by all. She does hate to read but she loves math, hah.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that sweet baby.

Harper is a very precious little girl! Forty -three years ago I gave birth 6 wks. early to a 4 lb 14 oz baby girl. She did not have to be in NIC. But when she got home we found some health issues , not serious though. It was her lungs and allergic to milk and I had to stop nursing her. By 1 1/2 she was doing much better from her lungs. God is so good ! Have a lot of fun with your grandbabies.
