Venturing Out

Yesterday it was a bit cloudy and cool,
with some drizzling rain.

I ventured out to a few spots
where I haven't been before.

Antiques and More in Lebanon
was a nice surprise.
I honestly thought it was going to be
a high cotton place with high-end antiques.
Instead, it was my favorite kind of place to pick.

I found a few goodies.

I've collected my share of birdhouses
and sold them all in my booth.

This one made me think of snow and Winter.
I'm gonna use it in my February vignette.
(Can you believe we are almost in February!)

Yes, once I collected old clocks.
Why, oh why did I get rid of everything!
Not again!

Oh, my goodness!
I fell in love with these spools of thread.
They were $1 each.

Ordinarily I would not pay this for a single spool of thread,
but I've been on the prowl for these forever.
I'm going back and get the other 4 spools.

I will somehow incorporate these into my February display.

Say a little prayer for me today from 2:00-3:00 pm.
I'm seeing an ENT for this hoarseness that I've had for 8 months.

The doctor will run a light down my nose to see what is going on.
My sister said he would numb my throat and I may feel like I can't breathe.
She said sometimes it brings on a panic attack.

WHAT???
I'm a panic attack waiting to happen at any time.

I'm believing God that all will be well,
that I WILL NOT PANIC, and
he will find and treat what is going on.

Thanks for your prayers.

Wall Art

One of the blogs that I follow

posted her gallery wall of art and photos.

It reminded me of some of the walls in my daughter's home.
She and her husband often decorate with wall collages.

I'll show you some...

This is Harper's wall of art.

This gallery is from the wall in the living room.

It looked like this at one time.

This is their bathroom wall.

This was a make-shift-lean-against-the wall gallery of mine.

It's these wall I miss from home,
which is no longer home.
My home and heart are here.

Hee-Hee, it's even blurred like a distant memory.
(No, that's bad photography there!)

Will soon have my own gallery to show.
Starting to actively house-hunt again.

I awoke two nights ago at 1:30 am
to the sound of thunder,
pounding on the walls and raised voices.

So ready for new walls!

Prayers, please.

The temps rose and it rained last night.
The snow is gone.
I'm glad the ice that remained is gone.
Don't like driving on ice.

Snow Day 4: I'm Staying In

Today our church was to honor our local heroes.

Due to the increment weather and icy roads,
church was canceled.

We stayed in.
The legs are aching from treading through the snow.
Really roughing it, huh?
NOT!
Loving it!

But truly, I am sore.

I walked my daughter's neighborhood several times.
I'm glad I was there.  They got more snow than we did.
Although, we are all considered "Nashville,"
some of the counties didn't get as much.

This is one of my favorite photos.
It reminds me of our a cotton balls, our "Southern snow."
I thought, what a precious reminder of my blessings!

The snow on the barn storage house
melted and we got these nice icicles.

See, it looks like a barn here!

OK, so, it's not a real barn.

This little fence surrounding the property next door
is not a real fence.

This is not a real country barn either.

But it is real snow!

I guess I'm not really a city girl at heart.
I can pretend, right?

This little snow bunny, took her first sled-ride.

She was as snug as a bug-in-a-rug.
Whew, but what a fight getting her there!
She'd much rather be inside

her own castle.

Just leaving you with this thought
on this beautiful Lord's day.
Whether you live in the city or country, a rural town
or a quiet suburb,

The whole earth is filled with his glory!

Psalm 72:19

Blessings my Friends.

Snow Day 3

Stopped by to see the other babies, slip sliding away, the truck and the kids.

This was my view on the way there.

This is my son's neighborhood.

And of course, we saw the kiddos on their sleds and making snow angels.

I tried to sled with Connor. I couldn't make it up the hill. I fell flat on my face twice. I just laid down and laughed. Never made it up the hill. Just slid down from where I was on my bottom. I loved every minute of it.

This I saw on the way home.

I'm blogging on my smart phone. I don't type very well on here so pardon my short post.

Will catch up with you tomorrow. Church is cancelled.

Hodgepodge Wednesday

I got so excited about the snow that I forgot it was Hodgepodge Wednesday.  I hope you don't mind my linking up to From This Side of the Pond

1. Speaking of skating...when did you last 'skate on thin ice', 'skate over the details', 'encounter a cheapskate', or just plain skate?

Someone told me today that my footsteps looks like a Sasquatch.
I told her I was walking like one for sure.
Not used to snow and ice in GA.
I can say I felt like I was walking on thin ice, literary.
Of course, figuratively I'm afraid I am there quite often with Mr. H.

2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age?

I'm 55 and I think I need to take better care of my health, lose some weight
and exercise more. But I also have gotten to a place that I am
content with myself.  I'm not thin, not beautiful in the eyes of the world.
My face is full of lines, but that's okay.  I am happy.
3. What's your favorite accessory? Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions?

I am not a jewelry person.  I've probably lost a total of 8 rings in my life.
In the early 80's, I sold my wedding bands when gold was high and inflation was up.
I can't begin to tell you how embarrassed about that I am today.
Mr. H. bought me a wide gold band later and I lost it.
I bought a new set a few years ago and in the move I lost them.
I only have one ring that a dear friend who is very sick
gave me when I moved.  I treasure it and only wear it when I go to church.

4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day. Are you a lover of cheese? What's your favorite dish made with cheese? Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese?

Any casserole with cheese. Anything with cheese.  Sometimes I just put shredded
cheese on crackers and microwave for 15 seconds.  Yummy!

5. What's something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?

Women my age taking selfies and posting them all over facebook.
Grow up!

Okay, I was a little excited today.
Ugh.  Horrible.

6. Your favorite book series?

Alex Cross series by James Patterson.
The Mississippi County (I can't remember the name)
by John Grisham

7. Why did you choose your profession?

I've worked in the Health care system most of my adult life.
I was a medical receptionist for 10 years and an activity director
in long term care for 12 years.
I love helping and serving others.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Her first glimpse of snow!
Who can resist this sweetness!
Can't leave out her brother, my favorite little man!

It's Snowing

This GA girl has finally gotten what she moved to TN for.

Babies and Snow!!! Is she not adorable???

Our big guy is getting so BIG!

The littlest one will probably wait til Daddy is home.

This is his view from downtown Nashville.

This is what I see from my balcony.

It's still coming down so we'll see more. I know to you girls up North this is like pennies. To me, it's like a million dollars!

The Mr. says I can't drive when it's clear. So I guess I'm staying in.

For now....

Fervent in Prayer

Prayerlife by Glaphre',
no longer in print,
changed my life.

At 24 years old, I had been a Christian
for a long time, but
full of fears and doubts.
I had seen God answer prayer for others.
I knew that He could, but would He...for me?

I wanted to believe that prayer would work for me.

It has been a journey.

I have prayed some prayers that were answered in a day.
However, I have prayed some prayers that I waited
years for God to answer.

Do you ever wonder,

Where is God when I pray?
Does prayer work?
Why doesn't it work for me?

Are you?

Frustrated in Prayer?
Defeated in Prayer?
Powerless in Prayer?
Don't know what to pray?
Don't know how to pray?
Don't have time to pray?

Haven't we all been there?
I have!

This is the book I will be teaching
in the Women's Bible Class.

The key verse in the book is found in
James 5:16

"The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." KJV
This is the translation that contains the title of the book

FERVENT.
(form of speech, adjective)
1. felt very strongly
2. very hot, glowing; exhibiting or marked by
great intensity;
zealous

A synonym for fervent is
ARDENT
implies an intense degree of zeal,
passion.

Has anyone seen WAR ROOM?

I haven't, but I intend to before I begin the study.

In your comments, I'd like you to share some of your thoughts on prayer,

What works for you?

What hinders you the most?

Or just your random thoughts on prayer.

If you don't feel comfortable posting on my blog,
please respond via email at
blhitchcock0301@gmail.com.

I'm taking a journey.
I hope you'll join me.

My Two Cents Worth

Just a quick Saturday post,
because the babies are coming over.
Can you hear my scream of excitement???

I just want to rant a little.
I guess I shouldn't call it a rant,
just my 2 cents worth.
It's just a little irritation of which I have no right.
I have been chastised on here before for my opinion about this.

I enjoy commenting on posts that I love.
I love giving a shout out to other bloggers.
There are so many that I'd like to comment on,
compliment, share how much I like their blog.

Here's the thing.
Some are just too good, too big, too busy with ads.

I know, I know.
It's your way of making money.
I know, I know.

I guess I should wait from my browser to catch up
with all the ads, but I can't.

I guess my little sweet comments (and I promise
they would be sweet) will just have to stay with me.

I got these lovely, hand made coasters before Christmas
for $5.
As they call me at auction, I am "Five-Dollar Bonnie."
Honestly, that what the auctioneer in my home town called me.
I rarely bid over $5!

So, take my $5-2 cents opinion and discard it.

Have a lovely Saturday.

A HomeGoods Find

My littlest baby girl was sick yesterday
so I stayed with her
until her doctor's appt at 2:00pm.

I stopped by HomeGoods to kill some time before church.

I've been hitting GoodWill and have been sadly disappointed.
HomeGoods did not disappoint.

I found this great candle stick that I can
use over and over agin.
It was $5.

A tree now, a candle later,

the aqua blue goes perfectly with my jars.

I like.

They are treating my sweet baby for bronchiolits,
but we are pretty sure that she has asthma.
She is on breathing treatments,
Pulmucort twice a day and Albuterol four times a day.

With a temp of almost 102, she is still a sweet baby.

She is home with her mommy today.

*******

I don't know if I told you, but I have been asked to speak
at the women's retreat where I have been attending church.
We are taking a membership class (yes, Mr. H too!) and feel that this is our fit.
I will be teaching a women's Bible class in February,
FERVENT by Priscilla Shier.

I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for this moment.

It's as I've I learned to praise him in the hallway,
that God has begun to open doors.

To be near my children and see God's plan unfold,
the vision He gave me 30 years ago,
is more than I can fathom, too wonderful
for me to contain (as said in Psalm 139).

My joy is unspeakable!
