A Tornado Morning and A Salvation Army Afternoon

What a Day!  Shoot!  What a Week!

In one week, we've had Rain, Sleet, Snow

Ice

 Earthquakes, and Tornadoes

That's in the deep SOUTH!

My brother's entire block was hit by the tornado.  His house was NOT!

Thank you, God, for keeping them safe. 

This was their neighbor's home or what was left.
The couple had just left for work.
The tornado picked it up and put it to the edge of the pond.

This afternoon, you would never know there had been bad weather.  

The sun was shining and it was beeeeutiful!

So I went to the Salvation Army and found some pretties. 

I decided to play around with PicMonkey.

I really like the effects.

I think this is my favorite
with just a bit of shadowing.

The hankie with just a bit of texture.

According to the 10-day forecast and the Farmer's Almanac, we can expect more rain/snow mix
next week about this time.

I think I'm ready for this...

My Sunday Post: After the Storm

Clean-up begins. 

The neighborhood is buzzing with activity.

First Baptist Church

members and families arrive early to work.

Good to have church members who are farmers.

I can not believe the difference two days can make. 

From this...

to this.

My Mr. H. is busy with clean-up.
The road is full or branches
and still a few days of work ahead.

Limbs have to removed
from our neighbors fence.

This is some of the damage...

on the roof.

Not sure which one is the bedroom hole.

Those limbs were like daggers.

We pulled limbs out of the yard
just like the ones we pulled from the roof.

I thought this sign around the church was 

somewhat ironic but appropriate. 

God may be asking his children 

to slow down and heed the warnings
for what is ahead.

You know that when the fig tree

blossoms that summer is near, 

likewise when you see

all these things come to pass,

know that His coming is near, 

even at the door.--Matthew 24

On my morning walk,

Middle Georgia Ice Storm

Two days without water and electricity

feels like an eternity.

Ice storm hit Middle Georgia

around 4 am on Wednesday morning.

We awoke to this...

Beautiful!

The Georgia Pines were never so pretty.

Then everything began to go
snap, crackle and POP in the night!

Someone on Facebook wrote,
"The only thing that should go snap, crackle, and pop
 is my morning cereal."

It sounded like firecrackers popping,
cannons exploding,
and
thunder rolling.

I heard a crack and then a boom.

We were more than terrified to see a limb
 through the ceiling in my pretty pink room.

Earlier one had fallen on my husband's truck.

It was a lonnnng night,
the coldest I have ever been in my own home
and the most afraid I have ever been
in a storm.

The next morning we were better able to assess the damage.
This is the limb from the outside view.

This is what we see now.

This walk around my neighborhood was different this time.

There was massive damage to the trees around the church.

As for as I know, no damage to the building.
Nothing short of miraculous!

Today the clean-up continues.

Yesterday,
a man stopped by with a chain saw.
His mom needed firewood.

We blessed him,
He blessed us more.

An evangelist friend and a church member
stopped by with another chain saw
and helped us remove limbs from the
power lines and roof.
Another blessing.

Today, clean-up continues.

Two insurance claims,
but we are safe,
now warm
with full tummies.

The Biggest Blessing of All!
