I'm Playing With Dolls Again

All I ever dreamed of being was a mommy.
Well, as I got older, maybe I wanted to teach.
That too was just the child calling to me!

I played with dolls until I was 12.
I didn't let my friends see me!
That would not have been cool.

I did the Barbie and Ken-thing after I was 12.

Thus, my love for dolls continues.

My friend bought two old trunks.
Guess what was in one?
Vintage baby clothes and blankets.

Darling?

"...the cow jumped over the moon."

My daughter and son in law gave me an iron and ironing board
cover for Christmas.  Yes, I asked for it!
I washed and dried the pretties and then pressed them.
I soaked in Oxy Clean over night and washed two times
and some were still yellow.

A dress and matching slip that can be worn as a dress.

I knew the owner and she had boys.
I'm guessing the blue was for her boys.

Some of them were "Handmade in the Philippians."

The one with the pink bow is homemade and so adorable!

The buttons and button holes are so small.
I guess this worked for skinny, young mothers.
Me, I could hardly get the button in the hole.

When my Christy was almost 2,
my granny gave her the doll that her son
brought back from Germany after WWII.
It's probably 75 years old.
She made the dress and the bloomers underneath.

My girls will be playing with their GREAT, GREAT Grandmother's doll.
Isn't that special?

Her eyes blink, she has a cloth body and rubber arms,
She cries when I squeeze them.
She feels like a real baby.

I decided that she needed a change of clothes
after 75 years.

Don't we all count fingers and toes when our babies are born?
I like to kiss a baby's feet!
(Please pardon mine!)

Yes, fingers too!

Here are the newborn photos of my little blessings.
I can play dolls again.

Waiting to do so.  Come on Feb 12!

Maybe we'll get to build a snowman!
Don't you just love the movie "FROZEN."

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I believe truly Jesus is the Reason for the Season,
but I think He believes in Santa Claus too.
Santa Claus is the spirit of giving
and Jesus was all about giving.

Don't you agree?

I started collecting Santa mugs this year.
In just a short time, I had collected 12.

Only a few are alike.
Most of them are very different,
unique.

I've had fun just moving them all around.

They've held candy canes and trees
and kisses.

This winking Santa is the most unique.
The wink opens and closes when the mug is tilted.

Most of the mugs are marked.

This face of Santa was not painted,

which makes it somewhat different.

Some Santas have eyes wide open.
This is the only painted sleeping Santa that I have.

Oh you better watch out,
you better not cry,
you better not pout,
I'm telling you why,

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Yes, I Still Believe,

Bonnie:)

Wrapped in Love

Today feels like the day after Christmas,
you know those feelings you get when it's all over,
the mully-grubs as my mama would call it,

you know,

the house is empty and in complete dissaray,
dishes need washing,
wrapping paper litters the floor,
the kids are gone
and you're missing those babies.

Yet, I am filled with a deep sense of peace
and satisfaction that God is Emmanuel,
He indeed has come very near.

So, until I can get the house in order,
wrap the presents, and get ready for the next few days,
I'll share some of the wrappings from Nashville.

Sometimes all you need is a simple bowl of ornaments
and the lights on the tree to stir the emotions of Christmas.

Vintage ornaments take me back to a much
simpler day when trees were filled with
bulbs lights, Shiney brites, and icicles.

There was always something special about
sitting beside a lighted tree at bedtime.

Glass ornaments reflecting the lights adds more twinkle
to an already glistening ornament.

Both of my girls enjoy the vintage-like bulbs.

It's amazing how the tree changes when little ones are added.

I think we would all agree that
the sweetest wrappings come not in paper packages
but are wrapped in love from above.

These are our joy and delight.

I thank the Lord above,
for sending these loves to us.

Even sick with fever,
these little munchkins were full of joy.

Thanks for sharing our joy!

Merry Christmas,
Bonnie:)

Table #9: Pink With Promise

Just got back from the city,
HOT 'lanta!

I'm telling you,
I was country come to town
but that's another post!

Table #9 is
Pink with Promise
I guess you know who's table this is.

Does this look familiar?
Of course, it does.

I chose Pink Georgia transfer ware
made in England.
The stemware is Pink Swirl by Noritake,
both compliments of a couple of my friends.

I added some silver with the pink.

I filled my milkglass baskets with silver bells.
Each guest at my table got hugs and kisses:)

I bought this ornament at the end-of-the-season sale.
It is one of my favorites this year.

My shop, my blog, my table is always about PROMISE!

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders,
and He will be called Wonderful, Counselor,
Mighty God, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace,
there will be no end."
Isaiah 9:6-7

Jesus, yes Promise...
For His government and peace will never end!

Bonnie:)

A last look at the tables tomorrow.
I will announce the winner of the Giveaway tomorrow evening.

Christmas on the Front Porch

I'm not sure if my little slab of concrete
would pass for a front porch,
but I decorate it anyway.

I found this rusty, crusty wagon
with a broken wheel at the flea market.

I added one of my favorite wooden boxes
a lantern, and some wrapped gifts.

This is my Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

I haven't yet decided what needs to go
on this side of the porch.
I keep looking for pillows for the bench.
So much for small town businesses.

This is the view in the day.

This is the view at night.

I'm not satisfied that it is blog-worthy, but
for 29 years it has been my humble abode and it is
HOME.

Have a Great Weekend,
Bonnie:)

A Frame Transformed

I bought three great frames for $5 dollars.

I thought of a way to use it to disply one of my mom's
favorite ornaments.

The old beveled mirror was a great backdrop
and I was able to add a new element to the pink room.

I always like the reflection that a mirror gives.

I was very happy with the transformed frame.
