Nerium recently sent me a copy of
DREAM: See It and Seize It
by John C. Maxwell.
A long time ago, God placed a dream within my heart,
to teach women,
to build a community of women,
to make women feel beautiful,
to build confidence in women,
to encourage other women to pursue their dreams.
My dreams have looked like this...
Teaching, leading and encouraging
and this,
A shop where I design...
A business of building women
helping them make a better life for their families,
helping them make a better life for their families,
Often, our dreams are squashed by others,
people who do not pursue their own dreams
and don't like to see others pursue theirs.
We may call these individuals
Joy-Stealers
Dream-Crushers
Idea-Killers.
We may allow our dreams to be stepped on,
our feelings to be trampled.
The mental slap in the face may cause us to retreat within ourselves
and we almost forget there was ever a dream to begin with.
John Maxwell calls these ROADBLOCKS.
Roadblock #1: Being Discouraged By Others
(often by those closest to us)
Roadblock #2: Being Hindered by Past Disappointments
Bad Experience
Failed endeavors
Unfullfilled Dreams
Dashed Hopes
Roadblock #3: The Habit of Settling for Average
You can not remain safe and reach your dream.
You can not continue to blame others, your circumstances
or the system for your unfulfilled dreams.
Roadblock #4: Lack of Confidence
Erma Bomback said,
"It takes a lot of courage to share your dream with someone else."
Risk sharing! Find an accountability partner,
someone to spur you on and believe in you and your dreams.
Maybe you're dreaming of finding the right one.
This is one of my favorites:)

Looks like a great book by John Maxwell...I really like him! I have no doubt that you along with God can do anything, girlfriend! Great song too :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of following your dream and the book sounds like it will encourage that. One dream of mine is writing and I have two books published with co-authors, and two more I am writing. Like your dream both of my books support happy families, the first is Scrapbook of Christmas Firsts, full of tips on celebrating Christmas and the second celebrates moms.
ReplyDelete"Dream a little Dream", indeed. Great post, Bonnie...one is never to old, never whatever to follow ones/your dreams. Never give up, sweet friend. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI hope that all your dreams will come true! xx
ReplyDeleteI think that's a very noble dream. I love that song too!

ReplyDeleteGreat words! I've been in a 'dreams have died' since my husband's passing! It's been so very difficult to dream again! I may need to do a bit of reading! Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Cindy
