Harper's Dreamland

Yeah, I'm still stuck in Babyland-

mentally, that is.

 

 

The nursery is now complete.

I thought I'd share Harper's dreamland.

 

 

Harper's daddy did an awesome job of getting the room ready in time for her arrival home.

The frames in the wall collage and the changing table

were painted with Southern Honey Chawk Paint.

 

A pencil art of the sea, a framed photo

of the fortune cookie that read, "It's a Girl,"

and a mirror reflecting the bed make up the collage.

 

 

The "H" was made by my daughter in law

and used at Christy's baby shower.

 

A photo of Harper will go in the other aqua frame.

 

 

This is my favorite wall because the shelves are lined with books.

When Harper's mom was just a tiny tot, I could read 20 books

at a time and she never wanted me to stop.

She was saying nursery rhymes by the time she was 18 months old.

 

 

The room's color and theme was actually inspired

by the wall hanging of the cranes.

The art is hand made and was purchased from a vendor at

the Nashville Flea Market.

 

 

Another framed print of her name hangs over the crib.

 

 

Aunt Tina had the rabbit made especially for Harper's room.

 

 

 

All these pretties, but guess who's the prettiest of them all.

 

 

 No, not you, Charlie. (He wanted to dress up too!)

I must say he IS cute, jealous yet protective.

He has a verocious growl when strangers come near.

He will probably be her best friend.

Junk from the Trunk

I went to stash my trash  treasures

in the trunk on Saturday.

A gentleman said,

 "I don't think you can get the table in there."

I said, 

"I can get the table in there!"

A junker knows how many loads

the old junk trunk can hold.

This was my favorite purchase of the day.

A small metal file drawer.  

It was the first thing I spotted in Donna's booth.

This was my second favorite find.

Great wooden box painted white and made pretty with Mod Podge.

Inspiration!

These old pieces will be transformed soon.

I'm thinking chalk paint and chalkboard paint.

Since my booth is primarily filled with white,
I may just clean these up and sell as is
just to have some contrast.
They are in great shape.

The blocks were in a quarter bin.

I asked if I could have all four for 25 cents.

YES!

Santa mugs among Autumn leaves. 

Yes, soon it will be Christmas Day. 

I only do SMALL pieces of furniture. 

I love the vintage clothespins. 

The other sewing notions were some of the FREEBIES!

A white cotton table runner and 

white wrought iron candle holder

that I'll use as a towel rack.

What Will Fall Look Like

I'm not quite sure what Fall

will look like for me this year. 

I'm never quite sure until I begin.

I painted more jars and got the look I desired. 

I started with lots of foo-foo.

However, less is more for me,

so this

became this.

It still feels like summer here.

When the air becomes cooler and feels like Fall, 

I'll add some color, I'm sure maybe.

Isn't that beautiful.

My heart overfloweth.

Ball Jars and Chalkpaint

A couple of weeks ago, 

I bought a box of 9 Ball jars 

(clear, old, not new)

for $5.

I found this wire basket that I love!

So, you know what I've been doing.

I've been painting jars with chalk paint. 

I distressed them a bit like they do on Pinterest.

I found these dried whatevers for $2.

I photographed them on the vintage tablecloth

that I was told to "take and be blessed."

It's hard for me to receive so I gave her $1.  

I know, I know, I ripped her off. 

I kinda like them in the white room.

I think I'll stack some pretty white linen in the basket.

A Cottage Bathroom

My daughter and son-in-law 

wanted to turn their bathroom

into a cottage-bath.

Cottage Wide Plank Bathroom Walls

I played around with Picmonkey

to create the look of yester-years.

Troy, my SIL, can google anything

and it's done in a weekend. 

He planked the walls and spray-painted them.

He had the repurposed wooden shelves 

custom made for their small space

by an Etsy shop.

The baskets are great for holding and hiding

His and Hers.

Bottles and mercury glass are always great accent pieces,

and are practical for holding cotton balls
and Q-tips.

It was hard to get the lighting right

with no window,but I hope you get the idea
of what a great finished project this turned out to be.

The next step is a barn door.

I just can't get this linky thing down.

A Peek of Coolness and A Boo of Color

Fall keeps teasing us.

A peek of morning coolness

(I found this compote among last weekend's pickin's.
It's staying with me!)

and

a boo of autumn color.

I just finished the chalkboard.

It's going to the shop tomorrow.

Mirrors, vintage frames, vintage pictures 

I find from 25 cents to $5.

Such an easy project.

I snag 2 or 3 on every hunt.

Fast and easy money!

My booth is almost empty.

Several projects on the wings.

Tomorrow will be a busy day!

Can't part with my heavy restaurant 

mugs!

Ironstone and coffee-

always a staple in my home.

The Rusty Gate: Unique, Handcrafted Furniture and Fabulous Linen

I have a friend who has a fabulous shop,

The Rusty Gate.

She has a booth an ENORMOUS space

in the flea market where I rent a booth.

Her pieces are GREAT,

hand-crafted from

old wood, doors, and windows.  

I bought two pieces from her, 

a single window cabinet and a double window cabinet.

They smell like freshly cut lumber

and old wood.

ahhhhhh.

Every piece is unique,

and sells the day it's brought in the door.

I wish I knew her secret place:)

Her vintage wares are near perfect.

There is nothing shabby about The Rusty Gate.

She sells a little of everything.

The linen, vintage, contemporary and shabby chic style,

are clean, perfectly-pressed and on nice hangers.

I snapped this up while it was still hanging on her arm.

She said it looked like me:).

The details are exquisite,

and PERFECT!

My mostly-white bedroom 

is coming together nicely.

(I painted this lamp with chalk paint today-it was orange-

and added a touch of fall.)

I'll photograph the entire room when I'm done.
