Two Sisters, Two Weddings

These are two of the sweetest, smartest 

hard-working girls I have ever known.

Both grew up at their grandmother's side

in the kitchen, cooking

in the home of others, giving

in the church, hosting

in the fellowship hall, serving.

Both girls possess a work ethic 

unlike many of their peers.

They both attended college
and work in a serving field.
Kaitlin is a nurse in a long term care facility.
Krystal is a pharmacy technician.

Both girls assist their grandmother,
the bereavement chair person,
with serving lunch for the bereaved family.

Krystal is the chair person
for the bridal and baby shower committee.

Both are caring and giving.

When they were little girls

they looked like twins.

Living in middle rural Georgia,
we're from the country and we like it that way!

They wanted an outdoor wedding.
Seating for the guests was bales of hay.

The wedding was full of Southern charm.

The jars filled with hydrangeas was my favorite element.

Lace and burlap, two of my favorites too.

The barn was perfect for a backdrop.

Krystal, Bradly and Jackson
will make their home in Tennille, GA.

The theme continued with the cake.



They had a church wedding
with an outdoor reception.

and they left the church riding a tractor.

It was good to see the wedding party having
a good time.

This was NOT part of the wedding festivities,
although, maybe it should have been:)

This two were high school sweethearts
and have stood the test of time.

Kaitlin and Craig make their home
in Washington County, GA.

I love watching our church kids
grow up and start a life together.

This makes me smile.

The North and the South Unite

There are many things I love about living in the South.

In the South, there's a setting somewhere 

fitting for a rustic wedding with southern charm.

Depending on the season,

there's a cotton field

or a field of sunflowers

just down the road, 

and a barn or a pond make great wedding photos.

I borrowed a few wedding photos from a friend.

Mel and Karen tied the knot on March 29, 2014.

Members of the 

Washington County Civil War Reenactment group,

there was no question what the theme would be.

The North and The South were indeed united on this day.

Who would have ever thought in the 70's 

that there would ever be anything but white lace and ruffled tuxes.

Most of the weddings I've attended this 

year have not been in a church.

Most of them have been romance in a field

without the lace and frills.

Mel and Karen, 

a soldier and a belle, 

continue to reside in Washington County, GA.

This weekend the Washington County chapter will perform

Washington County's Civil War on the courthouse square.

Wedding Moments

A Simply Elegant Wedding

Many special moments were made for lasting memories.

It was a sentimental day for the bride and her girlfriends.

Their gift to her was a scrapbook 

of their college days together.

Tears of joy of memories from the past,
and tears of joy of memories to be made in the future.

The private letter from the groom

invited her to a moment before the ceremony.

Time to get ready.

Both the girls

and the bride.

Just a few more buttons and then
time for the bride

to meet the groom.

Her sweet guy was one of our boys.
He brought her into our lives
and she quickly became one of our girls.

He patiently awaits his princess and

Cinderella hurries to meet her prince.

It was certainly a sentimental moment,

not without tears. 

Do we dare intrude on the moment?

The Southern Antebellum mansion
was without need of props, vintage within itself.

The girls just wanna have fun,

and a little girl dreams of one day being a bride herself.

Her ideas of a vintage wedding came together.

The shutter was for posting advice for the bride.

Don't you just love the wooden file box and the old typewriter.

Good advice was given as "keys" to a happy marriage. 

This candid shot was sooo cute, 

"What??? Where were the real rings?"

The ring bearer and flower girl are niece and nephew of the bride.

The ceremony was beautiful,

the night was perfect for a lighted pavilion,

and the food was scrumptious.

They danced away til evening

and the real celebration began.

I saw the couple last weekend 

and they look like they are still enjoying

special moments 

I'm on my way to Nashville

so I'll be away for a few days,

Yes! Yes! Yes!

We've Only Just Begun

The wedding was a family affair

with the assistance of Joy Lord, the designer

whom I mentioned in yesterday's post. 

Mr. H and I have been friends with

the Price and McDonald family for many years.

The mom, the sister, the groom's mom and Joy

all worked together to give Natalie 

her dream wedding.

The bride shared with me,

"Everything was basically a huge collaborative project between myself, Joy, Mama, and Lindsay. I knew I wanted a vintage country feel, to create the feeling of outdoor rooms, and lots of lemons. From there we all come up with the details and pieced everything together. Lindsay found the idea online and she and Mama created it when Lindsay was in town for the weekend. Joy provided and placed the frames on the paper wall. Mary Susan did the flowers, which were simple but so amazing!"

The arbor made from natural elements
was a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony.

There are just so many things little boys like to do.

standing still may not be one of them.

This is Daddy's little boy,

Daddy's little girl,

and Nat-Nat makes it all better.

The bride will always be Mama's baby,

and Daddy's little girl.

However, he now puts her hand in the hand of another.

White Lace and Promises

and 

we've only just begun.

The bridal bouquet, arranged by Mary Susan Bell,
mother of the groom was exquisite,

and the flowers that adorned each table were simply elegant.

Yellow and lemons,
yes, Natalie, you got what you wanted.
Beautiful!

The cake was "pretty" yummy.

May their love last forever,

like initials carved in a tree.

Enjoy the children.
 I love children at a wedding.
You never know what's gonna happen
when babies are around.

This sweet boy is the bride's nephew,

sister of the bride's baby boy,

and the apple of Mimi's eye.

The kiddos are having fun.

This Celebration was beautiful and I think you tell
from the smiles and the look of laughter,
everyone had a good time.

A Gorgeous Bride for sure!

On a more personal note,
The Price Family,
Mother of the Bride has been like family.
When my baby brother was killed in the accident,
this sweet girl's grandmother was the first one to get to me.

I tell her often she looks just like she always did.
She hasn't changed a bit.

Her children were like my brother and sister.
Her son, above, was one of my baby brother's best friends.
He would come through the cotton friend
to play in the sandbox.

One person was missing from this wedding,
the bride's maternal Papa.

I'm sure this was a special moment exchanged
in memory of him.

He was my youth Sunday School teacher.
She was our youth choir director.

We traveled many miles together over the years.
We see each other from a distance now
and hug when we do.
I miss what once was, but life goes on,
but the memories stay with us forever.

Natalie, you have a wonderful heritage
on both sides.  I know you know that.
