Feeling at Home

Just a peek.

No internet service but a great IPhone helps!

A room at a time, I'm using my stuff. Purchased a used washer and dryer and a rug on sale at Lowe's. That's it. I've stayed within David's budget.

Mr. H is happier now that he has a yard. I think he's beginning to feel at home.

Touches of Navy

"I am pooped."

"I am plum tuckered out."

Just a few sayings I heard my mama say at the end of an exhausting day.

I've been up since 5:30 am and I'm just now getting to plop down at 11:00 pm. Gotta unwind from moving day. Only, Granny and the Hillbillies didn't make just one trip. We made more like 10. Well, maybe 5 trips x2.  And we probably have another full 1 1/2 days to go.

Right now, this is the extent of my decorating.

This star has been yellow, red, brown, tan, gray and now navy.

I am adding touches of navy to my white, tan and gray.

This was my inspiration. I got a couple from Kmart. I love Kmart here much better than Walmart.

The other two pillows were pillow covers from Hobby Lobby. They were 1/2 price and only cost me $12 for both.

It still feels so surreal. Right now I feel like I'm living in a dream. Would never have imagined.

With a Grateful Heart,

Bonnie

Down To The Last Wire

It was truly ,"Down to the last wire," as we waited to find out exactly how much money we had to "wire." Many details were "down to the wire."

I am so glad today is behind us. Tomorrow we sign the papers. I can't begin to tell you the relief that I feel.

Today was our final walk-through and all was completed.  If you had told me on Monday that all would be complete by closing, I would never have believed you.

The shutters were added...today.

The knobs and handles to the kitchen cabinets were completed...today.

The kitchen is my favorite room. Details and molding were completed...today.

I basically used the same colors and hardware through-out. The bathroom details completed...you got it...TODAY.

Yes, I am thrilled with the finished product. I never believed in all my life that we would live near our babies and have a  new home.

I am so full of emotions tonight. Thank you for your patience with my absence as we've taken this journey.

Now for the fun part...loading and unloading. We can do this!

Bone-Tired, Brain-Tied

As I wrote on Facebook last night,
I am bone-tired and brain-tied.

We have never built a house.
We lived in the same house for 35 years,
in the same town for 38 years,
and in the same county for 55 years.

I can tell you that what "they" say is true,
"If your marriage can survive building a house,
it can survive anything."

David shuts down when he's stressed.
I stress and my colon shuts down.
So, we're a physically and emotional mess right about now.

I'm too tired to be excited.
But, that will change, when the last item has been packed
and the last box is unloaded and we're finally home.

That's right, The Beverly Hillbillies!

I can't even begin to tell you the documents
we've signed,
over and over and over again.

How can a "Loan Estimate" change so many times?
And how do closing costs seem to vary $1000 at the time?
And why when asking "why?" do you get the feeling that they have no idea why?
"But just transfer another $1000 just in case.  We'll issue you a refund."
What???  Why???
They have no idea what we'll have to do get another $1000.

All said and done.
the final walk-through yesterday went great!
We have a wonderful builder, a very laid back young man.
Granite counter tops, tile and wood floors were basic.

Of course, I had to pay extra for my blue door.

Some things I love about our new home...

I love that our home is in a subdivision
with sidewalks.
The mailboxes are provided and I love it.

I love my covered deck with a fan!

I love my floors!

These almost didn't happen.
Lowe's delivered the wrong order.
I just happened to drop by one afternoon to see the progress.

WRONG color, kind, style.
Yuck!
Old School!

"Oops!  Sorry! Wrong delivery!"

Yelp.

That's why it pays to be an assertive buyer.

I'm so ready for this to be behind us, already!

This granny just may need a rocking chair.

"Take your shoes off, Ya'll come back now, ya here?"
The Beverly Hillbillies.

Watch out.
Here we come!

I Answer To Barney

Just checking in. Don't know when I posted last or when I'll post again. The colonoscopy is behind me and I'm good. I had a couple of polyps, some diverticulosis resulting from colon spasms and irritable bowel syndrome. I'm actually feeling better than I have in months. A good purge is good for the body and bowels. Hee! Hee!

The doc explained it this way...We are wired one or two ways. There's Andy Griffith and then there's Barney.  Well, I answer to the tune of Barney. Gut reactions to out-of-my-mind stressors.

We plan to close on May 27. There's still much to do. Prayers appreciated.

In the meantime, these babies are enjoying the summer sun.

This little one got bit by a dog today. Little fingers and blood. This BonBon could imagine the worse. Baby girl screaming and me holding her down to wash away the red. It wasn't as bad as I thought. No stitches needed. Then they were rear-ended. My baby had a bad day. We had a bad day.

Getting a Mother's Day picture with everyone was highly unlikely. Will keep you posted.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day, to you, my friends.

And to my sweet girls who make me proud,

Happy Mother's Day!

It's not an easy day for me but I choose
To laugh.

Choices Made:???Did We Get It Right???

The house is coming along. There are already some things I wish I'd chosen differently, but I'm happy.

I love the light over the garage.

I think the gray siding brings out the gray in the brick. I'm just wondering. Should I have chosen a lighter gray?

Here's a bigger view from the other side.

We now have front door steps and the concrete is set for the driveway. The blue door is still my favorite but I recently almost changed it because I wondered if there was too much contrast.

I'm glad to have white cabinets again and the tile is another favorite. I think I did good there.

Here's a closer view.
This is not the chandelier that I picked out. It looks too big to me but the designer said we would need the light.

I'm looking forward to a covered deck. Although small, it's enough for us and the  kids have the whole back yard. I'll post the yard when it's nearer completion. It's a mess right now.

This is the view from the road. The finishing touches will come. I'm scared that the shutters are going to be too dark. They are a deeper gray than the siding. Do you think I got a little carried away with the gray? Is the blue door too much of a contrast? Should we have gone with the other house plan so I'd have a front porch? I liked the inside layout better on this one and that's our living space. I don't think we'll be camping out on the sidewalk. I just hope we'll love it when it's all done. We've never done this before and so many decisions had to be made in a day. Whew! No wonder the gut is in spasms. I'm one big spasm. Guess I need some reassurance that my choices are good ones.  After all, unless something big changes, this is our forever earthly dwelling. Glad our heavenly home has already been designed by the Great Designer of the universe.
