Welcome to Tennessee

I guess you can say I am now a full-fledged
resident of Tennessee.

I got a big ole TN welcome and a citation
from the Almighty Lebanon police patrol.
(I didn't see the little man on the scooter with the blue light.
Hey, I was listening to Holiday music.)

He was rudely pointing his finger at me
(no, not that finger) motioning for me to get over.
REALLY?
Have you ever tried to get over at rush hour
when you're in the middle lane?

"Did you not hear my siren about a half mile back?"

"I can't hear, sir."
Seriously, I can't.

Yes, I was going 46 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Hey, I was just following the car in front of me.
It's what you have to do in the big city or you'll get run
over.  Only this is not the big city.  It's the little city
just off the big city highway,
a little town with a big city attitude.

The usual, "Mam, where you going so fast?"

"How fast was I going?"
Dumb answer,

"I see you have a GA license and a TN tag.  How long you been in TN?"

"Six months."
Wrong answer again.

"I'm gonna have to give you a citation for speeding
and I should write you up for driving without a TN license."
(I found out you have 10 days to transfer license.)

"Sir, I'm sorry.  I didn't know."
I guess I got this one right.

"Of course, you didn't. (Don't know if that was sarcasm.  I'll try to believe not!)
I'm gonna let you slide this time.
Now head on down to the DMV and take care of that for me....
hey, and slow it down."

"Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas to you, too."

I'm giving you the nice version of what happened.
Not the naughty.
I'm gonna be nice today.

The photos are taken from the Lebanon, TN city square.

"Oh yeah, take the Driving Class and the ticket will disappear from
your record."
He circled the number and gave me the pink slip.

I called the office to schedule the class.

"That will be $149."

"WHAT???? How much was the blooming ticket?"

"$230."

Christmas bonus time, right???

  5. Christmas naughty and Christmas nice. Those tickets are expensive and the class too. Sometimes it is dangerous to keep to the speed limit, like in your situation if everyone was going 45 in a 30 zone.

  8. Bless your heart. I have received two tickets in 44 years of driving! Once I was going too fast and the other time I was totally distracted by some family issues and ran a stop sign. Now I am more observant of speed limit signs. The first ticket was back in the 80s and it was 150 the stop sign was ten years ago and it was $250. I am trying to focus now...I can't afford not to!!

  10. Gosh, when it rains it pours. That can happen to anybody at any time. I've quit calling them cops. They're now Tax Collectors. The alleged speeding has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with revenue stream ... Praying for you and yours. Merry CHRISTmas sweet lady. ~:)

  11. Ouch !! Some times that's the part of moving that people forget. My sister did the same thing . I think when the traffic is all going the same speed how do you judge who to give a ticket too? Just stinks. If you weren't being to fast or reckless...he could have just given you a warning. I will wish you well, I hate that you got this ticket. xoxo,Susie
