Pardon The Progress

We are heading to Georgia for a few days.
I pray the rain is gone and the flood waters are receding.

I am putting away the Christmas stuff
a little at a time.

It feels good to find some method in the madness.
It takes a little "stringing-and-strowing,"
as my mama would say,
to get things in order.

Anyone else ever heard about,
"stringing and strowing?"
Spell-check says "strowing" is not a word.
Maybe it's GA slang.

I understand the signs
"Pardon the Progress."

Yesterday, I was cleaning out one of the two closets
that exists in this apartment, and I had
the entire bedroom full!
(I would not dare show you!)
It's still a work in PROGRESS!

I cleaned out the magazine basket.
It was full of Fall and Christmas issues.

Kinda empty now.
You know, like the feeling you get when it's all put away,..empty.

Gone is Santa, cups, mugs, and pitchers.
Everything is back to normal...
is there really such a thing?

Barbara Johnson, a Christian writer said,
"Normal is just a setting on a dryer."
I agree.

I'm so ready to find a house.

This was home for 30 years.

We're locked into this lease for 5 more months!
I'm praying for contentment.

Until then...

This is progress.
At least, we can get open the closet door!

What does your "progress" look like?

See Ya Next Year!

  1. Have a safe trip to Georgia. My house is officially undecorated as of noon today. As much as I enjoy getting out the decorations and make the house festive, I think I like it even more getting the house back to normal. I hope you can find a house when your lease runs out. Have a great day.

  6. Have a good trip. Our process was Monday ~ take down Christmas decoration in the bathroom and clean from top to bottom and return with my "blues"....Tues. Tackle the Kitchen and dinning room...All done, Christmas is down and my dearest even got on the ladder and cleaned the ceiling fan. Tomorrow, living room, Thurs. Bedroom and media room and the house will be clean to start the new year. That's how my momma did it. She was a great role model. Happy New Year.

  10. I love Barbara Johnson's humor. My progress hasn't even begun...everything Christmas is still in place due to having our last get-together last night. Progress will start happening this weekend...then and only then can I let out a little sigh of relief that progress has been made. And no...I have never heard the term strowing :)

  11. Bonnie, I pray that the new year brings you a home where you can nest and be happy. It's very hard to feel you're in limbo. Hope your trip is a good one. Enjoy!

  12. I hope you're having a fun time in Georgia, Bonnie! I bet cleaning and putting things away felt good. I put everything away also, but I have to say that I miss the tree - it had the strongest pine scent ever. It's always nice to get rid of clutter and start the new year fresh.

Happy New Year, Bonnie! Wishing you much peace this year.

    love, ~Sheri
