Something Old, Something Blue, Nothing Borrowed, But Something Blue

I know you're not believing
that I'm posting yet again.

Where is this inspiration coming from?

It's Christmas!

I am overwhelmed with joy.
My Christy sang this morning at church.
Knowing what she is going through and still she sings,
is more joy than I contain.

Our son has a duet with his wife in the Christmas program.
This will be a first for him.
He sang when he was forced to do so as a child.
I am so looking forward to hearing him as if for the first time.

The apartment building is having a patio/door decoration contest.
I am busy getting up lights.
I can't wait to show you my theme.
It may even be a little tacky.
But, hey, I'm a grandmother.  BonBon can get by with anything, right?

You'll have to wait...

I pulled out a box from the bottom and decorated a small corner.

Something old, something new
nothing borrowed, but something blue.

Took my lantern down and added balls.
With two less trees this year,
I have an abundance of balls.

I'd forgotten about my little truck.
Yippee!

I spent $3.50 on the house.
I found it at Dollar General.
It would have cost more at Home Goods or Hobby Lobby.
Yay, me!

Isn't it pretty?

Stay tuned for the unveling of the patio door...
Coming soon!

  2. I know you were beaming as your daughter sang. My kids don't sing in public...I guess I'll just have to be forever the one to do it for them, haha!
Can't wait to see your door. Yes, you can do anything your heart desires....tacky, no problem!
I love the blue and silver. I've done red, green and gold forever....maybe next year it will be blue. Hmm, Maybe we will!

  9. How pretty in blue. The little truck and tree are precious. I think that after Christmas when things go on sale, I buy "blue" and next year leave the red and green in the bins. I love visiting all the homes with blue...so pretty.

How fun to have family singing for Christmas. You must be proud.

  11. I love your Dollar General Find, Bonnie. I got several sparkly little trees there for only $1 each!! And I also enjoyed your post on adding and subtracting. That is how I decorate all the time. I add a bit, then stand back or walk away for a bit then I will come back and tweak it!!

  13. I love that little white house, Bonnie. And Yes, it would have cost more somewhere else. I've seen these around this Christmas, and always want to buy one for myself. :) That truck is darling. How nice that your son and his wife will sing in the Christmas program. That should be so special.

Enjoy this wonderful Christmas season, Bonnie.

    love, ~Sheri

  14. Bonnie, first I have to say this. Every girl wonders what she'll get to be called when she's a grandmother. BonBon is just awesome! We don't have grandkids yet but I'm looking forward to it. :)

Your decorations are perfect. The soft blue and white is so pretty. Love the little house with ornaments around it. I'm going to copy that. I love that your apartments are having a door decorating contest. That makes things feel so homey and like a community.

  15. Over the weekends I tend to not read as many blogs and sure enough, I missed this one until just now! What a blessing that must have been to have both of your kids singing on Sunday...a gift worth more than glittering gold! Your cute little corner is just so pretty and simplistic and the little house is a perfect addition. Looking forward to the unveiling of the door!
