I spent yesterday evening transforming my finds.
A pumpkin with glue and paper and VOILA!
Beautiful on the outside, still
a Dollar Store pumpkin on the inside.
Another pretty, topped with a bow,
but a little rustic too.
I found this great wooden cigar box.
The hinges were broken.
It was in the 25 cents box
thrown away and discarded.
Took off the hinges,
painted it, made it new on the inside
with decoupage,
and now it has many uses.
Made new from the inside out.
A canister, FREE, tried to make pretty
still plastered over and messy.
Beautiful on the outside,
on the inside, still a pumpkin,
still an old box, both Jesus would call "whitewashed",
a glued, plastered cover-up.
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside,
but on the inside are full of dead man's bones and everything unclean.
In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous
but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
Matthew 23:27-28
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for outwardly
appearing saintly and holy but inwardly
remaining full of corruption and greed.
Like the Mod Podge box, it is for show,
pretty on the outside, but still a broken box.
However, God can turn the heart into a treasure
if we stop trying to cover up and let Him
make us over from the inside out.
What are you, whitewashed or washed white?
Praising God for His Word,
Bonnie:)
