Homecoming on the Hill

My daughter and her husband
had their 10th year college reunion this weekend.

They both graduated in May, 2004 from
Trevecca Nazarene University
and were married in August of the same year.

Trevecca Nazarene University is a beautiful campus
located in the heart of Music City, USA,
Nashville, Tennessee.

The campus is most beautiful in the Fall.

The campus is expanding with new developments every year.
The Reed Bell Tower was built and dedicated this year in memory of
Dr. Milliard Reed, President from 1991-2005.

This is another great photo of the trees

and another view of the bell,

The collage shows the magnificence of God's creation.

The friendships made in college are forever.
(That's my girl on the right and her husband behind her.)

Christy was voted Homecoming Queen 2003-2004.

TNU is my son's Alma Mata too.

Elsa and Anna showed up on Saturday morning
for the parade.

It was a fun day for the children of the alumni
with bouncy slides and balloons.

One of the girls who didn't make it for the weekend
said, "This is the only picture that I wanted to see of Homecoming."
Everyone has been praying for this baby for a long time.

My baby girl works for Alumni Services.
Needless to say, the weeks before Homecoming
were stressful.

However, she was able to take some time
to enjoy the weekend and participate
in the festivities.

Trevecca is not a little no-nothing school.
Wanna know what is fabulous?
The TNU gospel choir sang back up
for
CARRIE UNDERWOOD
at the 2014 CMT awards.
How cool is that???

My dad attended Trevecca from 1948-1950 and was
given an honorary Doctorate of Divinity in 2004.

My brother went to school there from 1975-1976.
My sister graduated in 1987 with a BS in Psychology.

Christy graduated in 2004 with a BS in Church Music
and finished her graduate work in October.
She will receive her Master's in
Organazational Leadership in May 2015.

Chad graduated in 2007 with a BS in Biology.
He received his Physician's Assistant degree in May 2011.

I never left home, instead I married at 17.
I had many "what-ifs" in the early years of our marriage.
When I see my children happy,
I wouldn't change the choices I made for a million dollars.

Trevecca is now my home away from home.

A Timewashed Pumpkin

Yesterday morning
my husband and I had war.

Mr. H: "Somebody's out there."
Me:  "I can't go.  I haven't got on a bra."
(I am never without my bra, seriously!)
Mr. H:  Sitting with an afghan over him,
"I haven't got on..."
Me:  "WHAT???"

It was the postman leaving a package.
I'd forgotten that I had ordered
a pumpkin from Etsy.
I rarely buy from Etsy, but
this time I couldn't resist.

Oh yeah, back to the story.
We heard the car drive away.
He left it at the door.

Me: "Now go get you some clothes on!"

(No seriously, he wasn't naked and
he wasn't dancing before the Lord either.)
Thank Chonda Pierce for the laugh!

Visit Becky's blog,
and order yours  today.

It was packaged so pretty!

She included a freebie,
two hand crafted tags.

It's the size of a medium pumpkin.
I am more than satisfied.
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

Do you like?

She's got some really great goodies.

Thank You, Lord For Your Blessings

I feel like this week was swept
away in a whirlwind.

After a great weekend
with the family,

I substituted two days,

ran around getting together
things for the festival
including
getting a costume together
and making chili for the chili cook-off,

spoke to a ladies group on Thursday,

had a pop-in visit from Christy and Troy,

and now getting dinner for them tonight.

As always, an incredibly high week
is followed by extreme lows.
I am having to pace myself,
speak a lot of LIFE,
count my blessings
and PRAISE.

I have a lot of reason to praise.

A Little Pumpkin

A Little Dusty, the Sharecropper

Food on my table

Shoes on my feet (well almost)

You gave me your love, Lord

And a fine family,

Hope and a Future

A Good Daddy

Someone who loves me and wants me to stay

These are just a few.

Thank you, Lord for your blessings on me.

Flashback and Fun Friday

Yes, that's me on the right,

a flower child of the 70's.
That's the blue and white dress!
circa 1970

Some of my favorite characters
in real life and fiction:

Pippi Lockstocking
Please pray for Melana.
She's having some health problems
and they are still doing tests.

Spider Man

Snow White

There were so many princesses,
and these were two of my favorites.

Cat Woman?
Is she not the puuuuur-fect kitty!

Ariel, my favorite
 Disney princess!

This is when Halloween is fun!

Bonnie:)

These are characters anyway,
with or without costume.

Scary! Creepy!

See, I told you!

There was even a guy with dreads walking around.

Fun Friday!

Fall Festival: We Let the Sonshine IN!

The last fall festival I attended
was when my children were at
Elder Primary and Sandersville Elementary Schools.

I remembered tonight how it felt to be a kid again.

Yes, that's me with the big mouth.

Someone said, "Where's your nose?"
I realized she thought I was a witch.
LOL!  "Not tonight, Sweetie."

I always wanted to be a hippie.
Don't laugh.  Seriously.
I just couldn't and be a preacher's kid.
I had the fear of God and my daddy.

I was a child of the 60's and a teen of the 70's.
When I was 12, I attended my first boy/girl hayride.
I dressed up as a flower child
with blue eye shadow, white lip gloss,
beads, maxi and flip flops.
I already had the straight, blond hair down my back.

When I was in the 5th grade, I wore a maxi dress to school.
It was blue with yellow flowers and a yellow ribbon tied in the back
from the empire waistline.
A boy stepped on the hem and it ripped down the front.

The teacher said, "Well, you knew better than to wear
that to school." I never did like that teacher.

I wore clogs and flip flops, smocks and scooter skirts,
maxi and mini dresses.
I listened to good music on 45's and LP albums,
8 Tracks and cassettes.
I had the best of both worlds.

Shoot, tonight we had it all too!
The cool girl playing the guitar and singing,
"Leaving on a Jet Plane,"
feeling the love and offering peace.

I'm wondering,
"Where Have All the Flowers Gone."

Yes,
she's high on JESUS!
He's the only real PEACE!

Grace snatched the cool decor from her bedroom.
Beth brought the incense and the music
and we "Let the SONshine in."

It was GROOVY!

Feeling the Love,

Bonnie:)

More festival photos to follow.

Whitewashed or Washed White

I spent yesterday evening transforming my finds.

A pumpkin with glue and paper and VOILA!

Beautiful on the outside, still
a Dollar Store pumpkin on the inside.

Another pretty, topped with a bow,
but a little rustic too.

I found this great wooden cigar box.

The hinges were broken.
It was in the 25 cents box
thrown away and discarded.

Took off the hinges,
painted it, made it new on the inside
with decoupage,
and now it has many uses.

Made new from the inside out.

A canister, FREE, tried to make pretty
still plastered over and messy.

 Beautiful on the outside,
on the inside, still a pumpkin,
still an old box, both Jesus would call "whitewashed",
a glued, plastered cover-up.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside,
but on the inside are full of dead man's bones and everything unclean.
In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous
but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
Matthew 23:27-28

Jesus condemned the Pharisees for outwardly
appearing saintly and holy but inwardly
remaining full of corruption and greed.

Like the Mod Podge box, it is for show,
pretty on the outside, but still a broken box.

However, God can turn the heart into a treasure
if we stop trying to cover up and let Him
make us over from the inside out.

What are you, whitewashed or washed white?

Praising God for His Word,

Bonnie:)

Junk from the Trunk

I went to stash my trash  treasures
in the trunk on Saturday.

A gentleman said,
"I don't think you can get the table in there."

I said,
"I can get the table in there!"

A junker knows how many loads
the old junk trunk can hold.

This was my favorite purchase of the day.
A small metal file drawer.
It was the first thing I spotted in Donna's booth.

This was my second favorite find.
Take a look inside...

Great wooden box painted white and made pretty with Mod Podge.

Inspiration!

These old pieces will be transformed soon.
I'm thinking chalk paint and chalkboard paint.

Since my booth is primarily filled with white,
I may just clean these up and sell as is
just to have some contrast.
They are in great shape.

The blocks were in a quarter bin.
I asked if I could have all four for 25 cents.
YES!

Santa mugs among Autumn leaves.
Yes, soon it will be Christmas Day.

I only do SMALL pieces of furniture.

I love the vintage clothespins.
The other sewing notions were some of the FREEBIES!

A white cotton table runner and
white wrought iron candle holder
that I'll use as a towel rack.

Transformations to follow.

Bonnie:)

Mr. H hates my junk.
He said, "I am not Sanford and my son lives in Nashville."
