Hodgepodge Wednesday

I got so excited about the snow that I forgot it was Hodgepodge Wednesday.  I hope you don't mind my linking up to From This Side of the Pond

1. Speaking of skating...when did you last 'skate on thin ice', 'skate over the details', 'encounter a cheapskate', or just plain skate?

Someone told me today that my footsteps looks like a Sasquatch.
I told her I was walking like one for sure.
Not used to snow and ice in GA.
I can say I felt like I was walking on thin ice, literary.
Of course, figuratively I'm afraid I am there quite often with Mr. H.

2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age?

I'm 55 and I think I need to take better care of my health, lose some weight
and exercise more. But I also have gotten to a place that I am
content with myself.  I'm not thin, not beautiful in the eyes of the world.
My face is full of lines, but that's okay.  I am happy.
3. What's your favorite accessory? Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions?

I am not a jewelry person.  I've probably lost a total of 8 rings in my life.
In the early 80's, I sold my wedding bands when gold was high and inflation was up.
I can't begin to tell you how embarrassed about that I am today.
Mr. H. bought me a wide gold band later and I lost it.
I bought a new set a few years ago and in the move I lost them.
I only have one ring that a dear friend who is very sick
gave me when I moved.  I treasure it and only wear it when I go to church.

4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day. Are you a lover of cheese? What's your favorite dish made with cheese? Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese?

Any casserole with cheese. Anything with cheese.  Sometimes I just put shredded
cheese on crackers and microwave for 15 seconds.  Yummy!

5. What's something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?

Women my age taking selfies and posting them all over facebook.
Grow up!

Okay, I was a little excited today.
Ugh.  Horrible.

6. Your favorite book series?

Alex Cross series by James Patterson.
The Mississippi County (I can't remember the name)
by John Grisham

7. Why did you choose your profession?

I've worked in the Health care system most of my adult life.
I was a medical receptionist for 10 years and an activity director
in long term care for 12 years.
I love helping and serving others.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Her first glimpse of snow!
Who can resist this sweetness!
Can't leave out her brother, my favorite little man!

  1. Bonnie, Those cute faces. I loved them. Hey I walk like Tim Conway used to walk when he was Carol's boss. I scoot my feet when it's slick...I do not want to fall and break anything. Blessings, be safe, xoxo,Susie

  4. it's nice to see your face on the blog. The kids are adorable. I love the surprise look. Very cute. The news is saying that the Northeast is going to get, or is getting, slammed by a huge winter storm. Y'all stay safe up there. I love cheese too but have become lactose intolerant in declining years. That's a real bummer. *lol* Have a blessed evening. ~:)

  5. Oh my, the last photo is priceless! I feel that way every time I see snow {{smiles}}

Such a fun post, my friend. I am so sorry about all of the rings you've lost. When my husband and I were flying home from visiting Canada I accidently left my wedding rings in the hotel bathroom. I didn't notice until we got to the airport. Well bless his heart, he jumped on the bus and went back and got them - my Hero! Thankfully we stayed near the airport :)

    Have a lovely night! Hugs!

  8. I enjoyed your answers! I agree that health is a big issue now that I'm older. I regret that I haven't taken better care of myself in the past and then I wouldn't possibly have the issues I am dealing with now. Yes, selfie's a are a bit over-rated! I've taken a selfie a couple of times and after seeing it. that cured me for sure!! Both my sons in the Knoxville area were sent home from work early because of the snow. Stay warm and safe!

  9. You got snow???? We only got some sleet. It quickly melted though. My son's school let out early so he didn't have to stay there all day. he was very happy about that! His orthodontist closed early too so we had to reschedule his appt. We are supposed to possibly have worst weather this weekend. So, we'll see! Btw, I had to agree with you about selfies. I hate them!!!! I especially don't like them when older women do them. It's like they're trying to be young or something. Leave it to the 16- 20's age range and then give it up! You just look foolish. That's my opinion anyway. And if you ever look at a celebrity's instagram or facebook it's filled with selfies. So narcissistic!

  12. Hi Bonnie! Loved this post! Nashville is supposed to get all our madness tomorrow. We had a smattering of sleet and a little snow yesterday - and chaos ensued! :) Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Stay warm!
