A God-Ordained Move

From the beginning of our move,
I have seen God's hand at work.

A house that sells within a month when houses
all around have been on the market for 2-3 years.

Retirement available at just the right time.

A severance package that pays the bills
while we are without a job for three months.

Unexpected circumstances that require me to be here
for my daughter and her family.

Yesterday, I met with our Pastor's wife for lunch.

She is so precious, with a very gentle spirit.
We talked about membership and ministry,
my hopes and dreams and life struggles,
the desires of her heart and specific prayer needs.

She and her husbands are PKs (Preacher's Kids) as am I.
We've shared some of the same growing pains
from growing up in the church.

It was refreshing.  I felt an immediate connection
the first time I met her, but even more so
after having a one on one with her.

She is young, a year older than my daughter.
She's a pastor's wife, a mother of two children,
16 months apart, one a special needs child.
She is in graduate school to be a Nurse Practitioner,
works and is doing clinicals.

Needless to say, she is stretched.
I count it a privilege to spend some time
with her and pray for her.

We talked about ministry opportunities for me and Mr. H.

My DIL called yesterday to ask me to speak at their
Winter Ladies' Retreat.

I can so see God's hand in our move.

My husband and I will begin attending the membership class Sunday.
Pray for him.  I really believe he is grieving the loss of a job
that he loved.  He's grieving the loss of our home.
His mom is a big part of his life and he misses his family.

I truly believe that God has called us to this place,
but I want us to make this decision together.
Pray for David's heart to heal and be open to God's leadership.

I'm working on a winter vignette.
Until then, this will have to do.

Love and Prayers,

  1. I think that you are totally right in all that you said. Sometimes when you are in the thick of something it is hard to see where you are heading or why, and all you feel is the hurt, but after a while it all starts to unpick and you can see the way forward again. It sounds as though that is happening for you. I hope that it will begin for your husband and that you will both have a great year in your new home and lives. xx

  11. It would be very hard to make a big living change, but if it meant moving closer to my kids, I'd do it in a heart beat. (Well, if my kids didn't live close already!) Good luck settling in.

  20. Bonnie, it's nice that you have someone that you can connect with at your church. I understand, as I also met a great lady at my church and connected right away with her. Praying for your husband as he goes through this journey.
