Riverfront Antique Mall: Meeting Distressed Donna Down Home

What a day of pickin'!

You know me, I got lost took the scenic route again,
with the help of Google.

I'm headed to Riverfront Antique Mall
in North Augusta, SC,
home of the famous blogger

I called Olive at
who lives across the river somewhere close-by.

"WHERE IN THE WORLD AM I AT?"

 How was she to know?

"Where are you?  What do you see?"
She knew exactly where I was.

I was going in circles.
Go Figure!

Olive said, "Look for Aisle B."

And there she was!

My first meeting with a real-life blogger!
I was so excited I didn't get any photos of Donna's booth
but I did buy some things.
She's my kind of gal.  She even had two baskets of FREEBIES.

I'll share my findings later.
They are still packed in the trunk.
I do mean packed!

I asked the owner,
"Can I take pictures?"

"Uhhhh.  Not sure."

OOPS! TOO LATE.

I shot these before I met Donna.

The above display was the first thing I saw when I walked in.
What an impression!

Shabby and Chic
and
Pretty in Pink

Rusty and Crusty
or
Linen and Lace
you will find at Riverfront.

A rusty, crusty plant stand,
NFS.

Is this not the cutest?

Crates and wooden boxes,
Painted furniture and chalkboards
were everywhere.

This was another darling booth.
I was shopping for resale
so I had to pretend these were NFS.

Several things in here were
"For Display Only."
After all,
presentation is everything.

Well, for some.
Honestly, I prefer a good dig.

I didn't check the price.
I can't believe I passed this by.
This would have been perfect in my milkglass room.

Distressed and framed scrapbook paper.
What a grand idea!

I left with a trunk full of goodies and some good ideas!

This will not be my last trip to Riverfront.

Fun!Fun!Fun!

Bonnie:)

I'll be sharing my finds on my next posts.

A Chippy, White Mirror

I bought the first mirror today
for my mirror collage.

It's very old, the glass is loose and
new wire needs to be added for hanging.

Although you can't tell here,
the mirror is beveled
and the chippy is just right.

I can't hang it yet until it is repaired
and Callie is getting too close for comfort!
Uh uh, no missy prissy !

The Nashville Flea Market is today.
I asked my kids to be on the lookout
for more mirrors.

Hope you are having a happy weekend.

Cora's Bedroom

Cora Joy
has brought us pure joy.

I spent the weekend smooching on
and snuggling with our little angel.

I honestly thought I had blogged
her bedroom, but I couldn't find
where I had.

I love all the design ideas
that I learn from my children.

Knowing how crazy I am about
shabby and chippy,
I just had to show the mirror first.

The natural patina on the frame and the mirror
make my heart sing.
This is aging to perfection and PINK!

A close up view of the mirror,
shows the crocheted hearts banner.
PINK!

Here you can see a larger reflection of the room.

This is new, but resembles the vintage dotted chenille
that was so popular in the 50's.
I love it!
It covered the changing table.
PINK!

Christina covered the embroidery looms
with fabrics to tie together the pink and the yellow.

She covered her name with the same fabric, and

used some of the fabric to create framed art.

Go PINK!

The sweet bedding was owls and birdies.

Christina is a big Harry Potter fan
and so is Con-Con.
I just love to hear him say,
"Hawwy Potta,"

This was hand-made,

and so was this one
monogrammed with Cora's sweet name.

A close up view of the chenille and printed fabric.
Cutie-patootie!

The C was hand-made by Cora's mommy.

Please pardon the blur, but I couldn't not
show you the lamp.  I really like it!
I especially like her sweet bows and ribbons.
Already a girlie-girl.
Her mom was a soccer girl, a basketball player,
and a cheerleader.
So she can be both!

The room is darling,
but this little girl is the cutest darling of all.

Our Little Cora-bug is a sweetie for sure!

There sure is enough love in Bonbon's heart
for more! It only gets bigger and bigger.

Is There An Art To Stenciling?

Practice makes perfect?
Really?

How do you guys stencil so well?
Is there an art to stenciling?

Beats me!

The USA plague was pitiful.

With a little sanding, maybe this one is a little better.

"What kind of saw is this, Mr. H?"

He called it a hack saw???
I think I heard right.

I found a long board left over from work done
on the house 3 years ago.
Loved the natural patina and I thought, "SIGN."

Yes, I started hacking away.
Took me three days to get through that sucker.
I'm sure I made some muscles.
Because my arm and neck sure are sore!

I can't decide if I'll use the sign or sell it.

This is the first piece of wood,
I've ever sawed through.
Yeah, me!

Again, tell me,
Is there an art to stenciling?

Once I Saw a Little Bird

The other day I was walking
the aisle of Hobby Lobby,
when this little bird popped out at me.

It was marked down from $12.99 to $2.99,
so you know I had to have it.

Just like it was yesterday,
I could see my little boy flying like a bird
at his Pre-K graduation.

Once I saw a little bird
come hop, hop, hop.
(These busy little 3 year olds are hopping up and down,)

And I cried, "Little bird,
won't you stop, stop, stop.
(They are pointing their fingers to the tune of no, no, no.)

I went to the window to say
"How do you do?"
( They all bow.)

And he shook his little tail
(They turn around and shake their little be-hinds.)

And away he flew.
( They are spreading their wings and flying.)

My little blond haired, blue-green-eyed little boy
was the busiest.

Before the program he had pitched a fit over wearing his Nike's.
They were supposed to wear dress shoes.
He won.

I think back now and smile.
Who cares what kind of shoes he had on.
All I remember now is how adorable he was.

What is a sweet memory you have of your child?

I'm Smiling.
