A Love Affair That Began with Mr. Raggedy Andy

I talk about my children all the time.
They are my heart.

They are here,
because two people fell in love.

I'm becoming sentimental
the older I get.
It seems that the two of us
are enjoying
our days of young love again.

Our journey began with
a Youth Christmas Party,
a White Elephant Exchange,
and a Raggedy Andy.

If I've shared this story before,
please forgive me:),
older, sentimental, and demented?

This baby is 37 years old!

The game is to accept and open the gift
you are given or take someone else's.

The Raggedy Andy was THE one.

Andy exchanged hands many times.
We played with no limited exchanges.

David decided that it would be mine
and he and I kept getting and losing him.

In the end we lost.

We were not dating at the time
so imagine my surprise
when the next day he showed up
with a gift in hand
from the local 5 and 10.

Guess what?
A much larger Andy
and a smile that stole my heart.

The game continued and we were married
two years later.
This high school love affair
has lasted 35 years.

Callie thinks she's found a new friend.
Oh, no.
She belongs only to me!

Do you have a story to tell about how it began for you?
Please share.

It's a Girl!

There's nothing like a Mother's Love,
unless it's a GRAND mother's heart.

Our first grand baby was born
before I started blogging.

I realized today
after reading NanaDiana's blog
that I've never shared the shower photos
of our first.

My nieces (6 of them)
gave the shower.
It was so precious!

His room is green and navy.

The spread was beautiful
and even more delish!

This pretty Southern Living basket
was great for displaying
and very practical.

The theme for his room was Elephants.
I don't know if I've ever seen a more precious
diaper cake!

Connor Dawson Hitchcock
was born on October 27, 2011.

These are all my children.
The one holding Connor is not the mommy;
she's my daughter
with an aching heart to hold her own.

My daughter and her husband
have been trying to conceive for 5 years.
They start IVF this month.
Please pray for them.

That was then,

Grandy and Bonbon, 30 pounds lighter and 2 years ago.
Ugh!
How did that happen???

My son was given special privileges
because he's a PA.

This is now!

Christmas morning.

This big boy is going to be a big brother in March.

Bonbon is getting exciting.

It's a GIRL!

Bring on the PINK!

Got this precious outfit from Zulilly
for $19.99,
75% off the original!

Can't wait to meet our little cupcake.

3 + 1= 4

Please pray for my baby girl and her husband
as they start the IVF journey.

White Lace and Promises, We've Only Just Begun

I've have found that
blog titles often reflect
the personality of the person.

There used to be a little shop
in my town called
"The White Rabbit."

It was a small cottage
filled with whites, pinks, lace,
and pastels.

It was small with a back porch and swing,
a kitchen, and three bedrooms.
It was shabby and chiccy.
At the time I had never heard of shabby chic.

I went there most every Saturday
and always left with a smile on my face,
a small sentiment in my hand,
and a peace in my heart.

The owner was somewhat eccentric and quirky.
(I find that most of us creative persons are!)
I found myself a friend
and sought to glean anything I could from her.

I have featured my pink room more than any other
because it gives me the same peaceful feeling.

It was at "The White Rabbit"
that I thought up what would
one day become the name of my shop,
"White Lace and Promises."

Most the the treasures in this room
came from "The White Rabbit"
where Mrs. Perry taught me
all about milk glass.

Sadly, the shop has since closed
and I have yet to find what happened to
my sweet friend.

However, I know that she would be glad
that there is a little booth,
called "White Lace and Promises,"
filled with ideas of which she inspired.

Pink milkglass is called "Shell."
This is my newest find
and hopefully, the first of my newest collection.
It is rare!

I find the words to
We've Only Just Begun
very fitting for a new year.

We've only just begun to live
White Lace and Promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way.
We've only just begun.

Before the rising sun we fly,
So many roads to choose,
We start out walking and learn to run.
And yes, we've just begun.

Sharing horizons that are new to us.
Watching the signs along the way.
Talking it over just the two of us.
Working together day to day,
Together.

And when the evening comes, we smile.
So much of life ahead.
We find a place where there's room to grow.
And yes, we've just begun.

(This was one of the songs from my wedding,
35 years ago.)

With Hope and Promise,

Bonnie:)

Treasures That I Shouldn't Have Let Get Away

Having a home with little space
and another space that needs filling,
makes for much regret.

Thinking back,
there were many treasures
I shouldn't have let get away.

Like the sweet yarn wreath
that my daughter made.

What was I thinking???

The child's rocker would have been
perfect for my grandbabies to
rock in at Bonbon's and Grandy's.

The wall wire basket
would have worked well with
my new bathroom re-do.

What was I thinking???

I always sell my bottles!  Ughh!
And the metal stand would have
added the extra touch to my front porch.

What was I thinking???

How did I ever let this piece go?
Oh, the things we'll do for a dollar?

What was I thinking???

But the greatest regret that I have
was in letting this one go...

I don't know if I will ever find
a door that suits my fancy
like this one.

Tall and skinny
and a one-of-a-kind
for sure!

What was I thinking???

Someone remind me that
somethings are not worth the sell!

Time for me to hit the trail
for more treasures, I guess!

Happy Hunting,

Bonnie:)
