Hands and Feet of Jesus

There are benefits to living in a small community,
a place where everybody knows your name.

The First Love Kids
took a trip today
so we only fed a few.

We prepared enough soup
and sandwiches for 150 people.

There was so much going on that we
fed only about 15-20.

This is Grady.
Grady used to work for my dad.
Daddy would give him work when he needed to eat.
I was very happy that he stopped by.

These were a couple of the guys who stopped
to shoot some hoops in the gym
and grab a bite.

Today was "Bless the City" day
for the town that is only 3 miles down the road from us.
It's the small railroad town where I grew up.

All of the churches came together
to reach out to the community.

The park was full of children
with blow-up slides,
lots of food and games.
Food for EVERYONE!
No need for soup!

Relay for Life had several events going on.

One of our local girls was getting sponsors
as a participant in
the Augusta Dancing With the Stars
to benefit Alzheimer's Association.

There was a youth fundraiser today,
a benefit food event for a needy family,
and a local auction/estate sale.

The town was busy with activity.
Maybe next time our soup kitchen will serve more.
We sure do want to be a light to the community.

\
Jesus said,
"When you do it unto the least of these, my brothers,
you do it unto me."

May we always be the hands and feet of Jesus.

  1. I hope that the soup kitchen growa and thrives. It is kind of the "build it and they will come" sort of thing, I think. Blessings- How nice that you reached out to those people that needed it. xo Diana

  2. Food is such a wonderful outreach. Jesus did it with the loaves and fishes...we do it with soup and sandwiches.

You have a caring community and how nice to be a part of that. We did that in our church in Hughson. The one we attend now, has some other projects that are good...but I think food "Talks Jesus".

    I just love those faces!!

  3. I'm surprised you're not back visiting with the new grandbaby. :) This has been a busy Saturday for lots of people. We rode in the Relay for Life to raise money for SE Cancer Unit here in Pierce County. I'm told we raised about $17,000! Wow. Anyway, y'all are doing very good work. I hope the community appreciates that. Have a wonderful evening. ~:)

  4. How good to serve with food; that is always appreciated by hungry people. Your churches have a great idea with Bless the City. My church will serve free pancake breakfast by the sea on Easter for all comers.

  5. Bonnie, this is scripture I hold very close to my heart. It in someway has become my compass for how to live life. Whether you fed 15 or 115, you served well. I hope you are having a good weekend. Bonnie
