Baby, It's Cold Outside

Don't know it I'm getting sick or if it's just cold.
In Middle Georgia, cold means "overcast, windy and 43 degrees."
However, it was 27 degrees this morning.
I was supposed to do a 5K walk and decided to sleep in.
Winter is supposed to be cold.
By the end of summer, I am always ready for cooler temperatures.
The winter of 1972 we had an incredible snowfall.
The midnight snow "gave a luster of midday."
The snow was up to my knees.

We played from early morning to late at night
making snow angels,
sliding on make-shift sleds of cardboard,
building snowmen,
adults and kids alike.

My kids never knew such until they moved to Nashville.

Can you believe this photo was taken last MARCH
coming home from Nashville.
I was scared to death.
Haven't ever traveled in this!

We've traveled this road many times,
but never in the snow.
This was on the other side of Chatty.
By the time we got to Atlanta,
the scene was like the first photo.

This was the last snowfall before my mom died.
She was in the nursing home and didn't have this view
but she sat and looked out her room window and said,
"Oh, how pretty."
It was like seeing it on and on for the first time.
"I wish you'd looka there!"
"Oh, how pretty."
A few minutes later,
"I wish you'd look at that snow."
"Oh, how pretty."

Everything, every beautiful experience was a first for her
many times over!
Feeling sentimental today.
Mama loved the snow.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Mama, tell Jesus we'd like some snow.

  1. Bonnie having lived in Nashville for over nine years we often had spring snows. We had blackberry winter, forsythia winter, dogwood winter.... Well you get the point. We almost always had s snow in early March. Here's hoping you see snow this winter. Bonnie

  2. Love the pictures of snow. I'm one of those weird people who likes the snow and wish we had more of it here in Virginia.
Thank you for visiting and for your very sweet comments.
