Blog It Anyway!

A few months ago, I changed the settings
on my other blog, "The Upside of Down."
I was hurt when my words were used against me.

Yesterday, while in the grocery store
I bumped into a local lady who
told me that she enjoyed reading my blogs.

I told her that I had decided to deactivate
my blog on Depression.  She said, "Don't do that.
I like it that you are real.  Not everybody is."

She has a husband who is permanently disabled.
She has taken care of him for 20 years.

So, I say, "Phooey to those who try to make bad out of good."
I will share my heart.  Someone may benefit.
Others will seek to harm.
 I'll blog it anyway.

I am thinking of the song, Anyway by Martina McBride:

Anyway

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not never come your way
Dream it anyway

[Chorus]
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway

[Chorus]

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah, sing it anyway

I sing
I dream
I love
Anyway

A Georgia cotton field after harvest.
Someone described it as "the snow of the south."
I love it!

  2. That woman has it exactly right. You wrote exactly what someone else needed to hear! It may not be for everyone but if it benefits one person then it was meant to be written. xo Diana

  7. Dearest Bonnie, I am so proud of you for continuing on. I know God put that lady there in front of you, just when you needed to hear what she had to say! I didn't realize that someone had used your words against you...shame on them. But good for you for continuing on! xo

  9. Yesss!! I first started blogging .. actually it was journaling back then.. when my mother passed away, and I was going through a real funk and wrote about it often. So many women reached out to me.. some are my closest friends. It was a wonderful healing experience.

    Do it anyway!

    Love that song too.

  11. That is what blogging is about, we love you for it. Some people are just mean.

  12. It is good to keep it real. Don't shy away from sharing your feelings. I think blogging is great because we share but many times it is very contrived. Life is not perfect and is hard. I missed the post you mentioned but I am sure it would help someone.

  13. I didn't realise that you had another blog, but I am so upset for you that anyone would say anything unpleasant ever as you are such a lovely person. I also think that writing and sharing about things like depression is such an amazing thing to do. Unless people share more others will not know more and knowing is what makes these things better for everyone. If you want to share do so, if not, that is totally understandable too, but either way people should play nice! xx

  16. Absolutely friend...before I even read through your post, that song by Martina came to mind! There are always going to be negative people and haters out there. You should not be ashamed of anything you have written on your blog, Bonnie. God bless you.

  17. I agree with that lady! You know, I thought of you today when I saw a clip on TV of Wayne Brady discussing his bout with depression. He was a good friend of Robin Williams and that really affected him...like it did so, so many. IMHO, if one person is helped by what you share, to hell with the negatives! This is your blog, your life and I admire you for speaking from the heart. I've experienced clinical depression re: hormones, etc. You go, girl!
