I Think I'm Going to Italy

I'm a little bummed today.
Remember the ice storm?

I still have 7 holes in my roof,
and a hole in my ceiling.
The insurance company won't settle on
the four estimates that we have been given.

Today we got a new quote from Lowe's,
but you have to have the money up front.
The bank won't cash the check until the work is done.

We don't have the money for a new roof sitting
in the bank.

So I think I'll ask my husband to take me to Deano's.
Is that not crazy?
Spend some money because you have to spend some money?

Deano's is a locally owned and operated
Italian restaurant, and it's better
than Olive Garden.

I love the brick walls and the atmosphere.

There is a large patio area to sit
while you wait to be served
or if you prefer to eat outside.

Specials are written on the chalkboard.

There is an industrial-feel to the place, and

character that you will not find at Olive Garden.

The wood is for the oven.

And the artwork makes you feel like you are
in a gallery or in Italy.

The outside sign is lighted with round bulbs.
I wish I had gotten a picture.

So, I think I'm going to
Italy Deano's.

Care to join me?

  1. I'd say go to Italy while you wait! Looks like a fun place and those insurance people can take forever!!!

  2. UGH! Insurance. I remember when Hurricane Katrina hit (we lived in Alabama), we lost power for over 9 days, trees down, roof, etc etc..I fully understand..REALLY I DO!

Hey--I'll tell you what..why don't you and I do a exhausting online search for Italy, and post our "vacation" pictures on Saturday?? DEAL? DEAL! (LOL)Blessings

  3. Looks like a neat place- I love the unique ones- hard to find anymore. Good luck with insurance people...been there, done that.

  4. Hey, any excuse to go out and eat is fine with me .... hope the roof gets fixed soon. Those darn insurance companies :-(

    diane @ thoughts and shots

  5. My son always goes through Home Depot. He does the 12 month thing where as long as you pay in 12 months you don't pay interest. Or something, not sure of the plan but he uses it all the times. Maybe that would be an option. Also your bank might do a home equity plan esp. if they know the money is coming. Good luck. Shopping or eating out always makes me feel better......or ice cream, hah.

  6. I would love to join you! Wouldn't we have fun? I think hitting a few antique shops in the afternoon, and then supper at Deano's. :)
Grrr on the insurance problem. That is so frustrating!

  7. Sometimes, when things get a bit frustrating and kind of turned upside/down...a little Italian does a body good! Hope you enjoyed! Blessings, Cindy PS: I'm leaning toward white cabinets!!

  8. I hope that you can get the roof sorted out, we just had ours repaired two weeks ago today from storms in February, so I understand a little your worry of holes in the roof. Hope that you enjoyed Italy in the meantime!! xx

  9. I'll be right there, Girlfriend! When I visited with my daughter's family a couple of weeks ago they took me to a wonderful Italian restaurant in Wilmington DE. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was out of this world...definitely better than Olive Garden. I had the Eggplant Parmesan and I can still remember how wonderful it tasted!

What time should I be there? Hugs...and best wishes for a wonderful weekend!

  10. Deano's looks like a place that I would fall in love with. I love old brick on restaurant walls. It really adds so much ambiance.

  11. [holding my hand up] YEAH! I'll go! I love Eye-talian food. No fair y'all have one and we don't. *lol* Didn't know about Deano's up that way. You'll have to show us where it is some day. I wish I could make money appear. Gotta play the Lottery, it's our only hope ... ~:)

  12. Would love to join you and all your blog friends, too =)Looks like a delightful place to dine.
So sorry for the insurance issue. So very frustrating, indeed!
    Bless you today, Bonnie!

  13. A Good meal always makes life look better.
Hope you get it worked out.

  14. What a frustrating circle, hope you are able to get it fixed soon. I say yes, good food always makes me feel better!

  15. Oh man! I'm so sorry to hear about the red tape frustrations!

  16. When life becomes a challenge---
    go out to eat!

  17. I love it! I'd go to Italy too if I had one near by :)
Hope you get better news soon.
    Have a great weekend!

  18. Sorry to hear about the Catch 22 with the roof. Hopefully it'll all work out sooner rather than later. But in the meantime, that Italian restaurant sounds like the place to visit. Eat up! :-)
