Find us Faithful

Today I attended the funeral service of
The Wise Builder
that I blogged about a few weeks ago.

I'm totally wiped out from the experience.
Someone who attended his church in another town said,
"I feel like I'm saying goodbye to the last one of that time."

I said,
"I feel like I'm saying goodbye to a big chunk of my life;
I feel like I'm grieving what will never be again-
my family, my church, my heritage."

Nothing is as it once was!

I sat and watched people come and go.
Many of them now walking with canes,
graying hair, weight gain or weight loss due to illness
or aging.

The church was full.
One section reserved for pastors was empty.
I wondered why.

Then I began to let my mind go back to
the years of youth camps and camp meetings,
youth and mission retreats,
Sunday School and NYI Conventions,
District and General Assemblies.

Many of my mentors are waiting to make that journey.
Many have already crossed over.
To you, who paved the way for us,
I salute you.
I love you.
I thank you.

On a happier note,
my niece and nephew wanted to attend the funeral.
They loved him too.
He was like Jesus.

He loved all the little children of the world.

Beautiful are the feet of those who spread the good news.

May we who go behind them, be faithful.

Thanks, Sheila, my friend, for the photographs of
my sister's family.

  3. It's so hard to say goodbye. Isn't it? I'm so grateful that those we love we'll see again. It makes saying goodbye bearable.

    Love you...oxRebecca
