Rusty, Crusty Finds That I Wish Were Mine

A rainy, day,
with no sunshine,
should have kept me in.

I'm glad it didn't.

I was so in the mood to junk.

I'm glad I did.

Aunt Tique and Uncle Junk
(don't you just love the name)
had the rusty, crusty that floats my boat.

The green patina was beautiful!
It was more aqua and it would
look great on a beach cottage mantle.

Same idea, but a medicine cabinet
with a mirror.

A little closer in so you can see the lock and key.

A barn door.
Some creative woman with a handy man
could do something with this.
I think it's a great door for a farmhouse bed,
or a farm table
with a little sanding of course.

A closer look at the hinges.

Love the smell of old wood.
It reminds me of my grandmother's house
and the smell of the fire in
the cast iron, wood/coal burning stove.

Seems like I remember Mama calling it
the "pot belly," stove.

Uncle Junk said,
"Take all the pictures you like."

The guy next door,

The above cabinet is made out of a screen door
with the screen replaced with chicken wire.

I snapped a shot before I asked.

Too late!
(sorry for the blur.)

All these rusty, crusty finds
were not to be mine!

However, loved the thrill of the hunt
and found lots of junk that I did bring home.
The backseat was full!

The trunk was already full!

To Be Continued,

  1. I love that store, we go out there every once and a while.

  2. Oh, you had a fun day. My blog friend here:
used barn doors in several locations around her house.
Can't wait to see your other goodies!

  3. Oh I DO love that name:) I'm with Mildred, can't wait to see MORE! Enjoy your evening dear friend, HUGS!

  4. I am mad at you Ms. Bonnie! Why did you not give me a call? Love the cabinet and the door. I will forgive you if you promise to show your treasures. Uncle Junk's - one of my favorites!

  5. Isn't that name just the cutest? Love that old crusty look...especially as I get to the old crusty age. HaHa

Wish I had a big house and lots of money and a plane ticket to you house...but since I have none, I will just enjoy your blog.

  6. OHHHHHH I can't wait to see your treasures that your bought home. Blessings

  7. Ohhhh, love that chippy, rusty, anything, beautiful, Francine.

  8. I love that name. So appropriate!

  9. Glad you got such great stuff. I especially love that door!

  10. I love going to sales like that too. You really found some great looking pieces. Can't wait to see what you bought.

  11. Thanks for sharing your shopping trip. I love that chippy old door, and that's not a bad price either.

  12. I'd like to visit this cute shop. Thanks for sharing your day.

  13. I went in Habitat for Humanity's Restore on Friday to leave donations and came home with two things - - both excellent buys.
Years ago, I about had my camera confiscated in Barbados when on a mission trip. I was taking pictures of the prices to show people how much more our friends had to pay for groceries when all of a sudden the manager was beside me asking questions. He thought I worked for a competitor! It took a LOT of talking to get out of there without losing my camera or the police being called!

I love the friendships I have developed through blogging. Visit and comment and I'll be sure to drop by and talk to you.
