Middle Georgia Ice Storm

Two days without water and electricity
feels like an eternity.

Ice storm hit Middle Georgia
around 4 am on Wednesday morning.

We awoke to this...

The Georgia Pines were never so pretty.

Then everything began to go
snap, crackle and POP in the night!

Someone on Facebook wrote,
"The only thing that should go snap, crackle, and pop
 is my morning cereal."

It sounded like firecrackers popping,
cannons exploding,
thunder rolling.

I heard a crack and then a boom.

We were more than terrified to see a limb
through the ceiling in my pretty pink room.

Earlier one had fallen on my husband's truck.

It was a lonnnng night,
the coldest I have ever been in my own home
and the most afraid I have ever been
in a storm.

The next morning we were better able to assess the damage.
This is the limb from the outside view.

This is what we see now.

This walk around my neighborhood was different this time.

There was massive damage to the trees around the church.

As for as I know, no damage to the building.
Nothing short of miraculous!

Today the clean-up continues.

a man stopped by with a chain saw.
His mom needed firewood.

We blessed him,
He blessed us more.

An evangelist friend and a church member
stopped by with another chain saw
and helped us remove limbs from the
power lines and roof.
Another blessing.

Today, clean-up continues.

Two insurance claims,
but we are safe,
now warm
with full tummies.

The Biggest Blessing of All!

With a Grateful Heart,

  1. Gosh, so sorry to hear y'all where hit so badly! I didn't know. Praise the Lord you wheren't injured. Roofs and rooms can be repaired but we can't replace YOU. Hey, look at it this way too, now you can spend time redecorating the room? It's an adventure.

Praying for y'all to recover soon and that homeowners insurance will cover everything. God bless. ~:)

  3. Glad you are safe. No fun with a hole in your roof I'm sure. Take care.

  4. I'm thankful you both are safe. I was afraid your area was hit hard. We had a lot of snow but no damage and we did not lose power. God bless.

  5. Oh NO! That is where you have been! I am SO sorry! Praise God for your safety and for help from friends and strangers! We had snow and ice but nothing like that:( Big hugs and prayers coming your way dear friend! Keep in touch as much as you can!

  6. Oh my, how scary Bonnie, so happy you are safe, Happy Heart Day, Francine.

  7. Oh Bonnie ~ that is downright scary. Your lovely pink room!

How nice you trees became a blessing, and friends helped with the clean up.

When will this winter be over for you?

  8. Oh my, I'm so sorry that happened to you, but thankful you all are safe!!

  9. Oh no! Ice is beautiful but so dangerous. Glad you weren't injured and I hope insurance covers the damage.

  10. Oh my goodness.
So glad you and your family is ok.
    God is good.
And sure sends angels at the right time.
    Woolie Blessings

  11. We lost our power for two days but no damage thank goodness. My mom had some trees down in her yard and one took out her deck. Did you feel the earthquake last night. We sure are having some crazy weather here in the South! Glad you and your family are safe!

  12. I have seen pictures on the news of trees going on and through houses but you are the first person I "know" who has experienced it. So sorry for the repair work ahead but glad it was only possessions and not people who were hurt!!! Our neighbor was at a friend's house and had two limbs hit the back of her car. It's totaled and already she has purchased another - - a VW.

  13. Bonnie, We have had a lot of snow....but ice scares me. It's horrible on the trees and bushes. Plus anything snapping and falling is dangerous. Thankfully no one was right under that limb coming into your house. Use caution when venturing out , please. I am praying for all of you in that storm. Stay strong, xoxo,Susie

  14. What devastation along with the beauty! I am so sorry that you suffered storm damage!
