I love blogging.
It has been a great way to express myself.
However, there is so much I don't understand.
Can anyone help me
or tell me where I can go to get help?
These are my questions...
1. I would like to do the LINK parties,
but I don't know how.
Will these increase my traffic?
2. How can I get more comments?
I truly try to be a good blog friend
by responding to all who comment.
3. Is there something that I can do to improve
the looks of my blog?
4. Is my blog not interesting or unattractive?
5. Why do I have only a few viewers?
I am so happy to have met new friends,
but my stats are way below what
they once were.
I'm talking less than 20.
Please be honest and let me know what
I'm doing wrong.
Is blogging a popularity contest?
If so, maybe it's something I should reconsider doing.
Any help, please???
Thanks,
Bonnie:)
Hi Bonnie, I adore your blog. I will be glad to help you link to some parties...I will email you to explain. Your blog is gorgeous and you are such a fine Christian woman who would have a lot in common with many of my blog friends. I will be happy to share the names of blogs I follow that would love to visit with you. I think finding blog friends with similar interests is the key and I'll be glad to help! Mildred
ReplyDelete1. I would like to do the LINK parties, but I don't know how.
ReplyDeleteWill these increase my traffic?--
I have no idea how to do that.
3. Is there something that I can do to improve the looks of my blog?
--NO! I love your blog..and with all due respect, I don't go looking for blogs..you posted on mine, and walla..I like your blog. I am rather shy..it does take me awhile to warm up. I know,it doesn't seem that way..but I am.
4. Is my blog not interesting or unattractive?
OH!! I LOVE YOUR BLOG! I really do. Very pretty.
I'm not much help in that department. I don't know how to do those things either. I love your blog and the content. Good luck. I'm sure you will get some people who will share their blogging knowledge. -Carla
ReplyDeleteBlackberry Lane introduced me to you. I can't answer your questions but I know two people who can. I will send your questions to them.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably not alone in lesser comments. I have heard that lately from others - - but many still read but have run out of extra time to type something. With me, I am fortunate to update once a week now - - try to read my friends daily and hopefully comment, too.
Eu também adoro blogar! beijos,chica
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, My friend, Mildred, Blackberry Lane, said that you are having trouble getting comments… I did leave a comment on your blog on Jan. 10.
ReplyDeleteI have been blogging since 2006--and know that if you want more comments, you have to visit-visit-visit others EVERY time you can…. I personally don't follow someone's blog until I know that they are interested in visiting mine regularly… Hope this helps some.
I can't help with the memes since I don't participate in them. But--Mildred can help you.
Good Luck…
Hugs,
Betsy
I agree with Betsy- except I do the memes...just because it helps me when I don't have anything to say. The main thing is to visit others and always leave a comment- even if it is just hello! That's how I get to know other bloggers. I think you have a lovely blog, so don't worry about that!
ReplyDeleteI find that the number of people following you, or the comments you get are not as important as the relationships you build with the "few" or many. On my first blog in 2007, I had tons of comments. I was anxious to get a lot. Fast forward. I stared a new blog after my cancer journey called "Got a minute or Two" as I share short stories from my life journal.
ReplyDeleteThe less than 20 I have now, have become meaningful friendships that we share our faith in Christ, or ideas, our recipes and our families (in my case several of my children are not blog friendly so I respect that and don't blog about them or show pictures of them. As with most everything...it takes time and "word of mouth from people who enjoy your blog".
I think you have a really great blog. Don't get discouraged with numbers...just be YOU.
Bonnie-
ReplyDeleteHere is a YouTube link that shows you how to link up to a party.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVyi4SlFWKk
I do think the linky parties helpssome people grow their blogs although I don't do the linky parties myself.
The best way I think of to grow you blog is to just visit other blogs and comment and KEEP visiting and KEEP commenting.
It took me about 2 years of steady visiting to get a steady readership and I really LOVE my readers and know something about most of them.
I like your blog a lot. The only suggestion I might have for you is to make your sidebar smaller (the right hand side) and that would make your content bigger. Make the pictures you are posting as big as you can make them.
You write beautifully so stay true to yourself and your roots and just keep at it. It takes a long time to build a blog but it will come.
There are times when even well-visited blogs don't have much traffic. There are days when you will have so-so posts that no one comments on it. Just keep going.

ReplyDeleteHello, love your blog, think your doing well. I a new at blogging to, I am anew follower, Mildred sent me, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteFirst Mildred referred me over and I think your blog looks just fine. Blogging should be FUN first and foremost. Each person blogs for their own reasons. Getting comments depends a lot of whether you visit other people's blogs and leave comments. There is a Grow Your Blog event coming up on January 25th. You can read about it here:

Copy and paste the link in your browser. Today is the last day to sign up for the event.
Email me if you have any other questions. Keep up the good work.
Hi!! Nice to meet you! Lynda sent me your blog and asked me to see if I can help. First of all, your page looks great! Second, I (personally) don't think of this as a contest of any kind! I've been blogging a long time, but am new to Blogger. I don't do link parties, but I DO participate in a few, and that is how I've gotten quite a few new friends. Hopefully Mildred helped you with the links, if that is what you really want to do. I want a quality time with people who have like beliefs. I don't connect with blogs I'm not interested in, or with people I wouldn't like to have living next door. I journal about my days. I don't try to entertain. Most days, I only get 8-12 comments, and that's okay. I read and try to comment on 25-30 blogs a day, and I have trouble keeping up with that (I work full time). I'm not in this to make money or advertise or run contests. It's just a way to connect with people from all over. Laid back and enjoying it. If you want to visit me: http://tdorsaneo.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to do a link party either, so when you learn I would love to know. One thing that I try to do is answered each comment and follow everyone back that follows me. I do have exceptions (if I visit their blog and it is something that I feel negative about, then of course I'm not going to follow) most of the people that I attract are people just like me. Women that love their families and homes and have positive attitudes toward life.
If you are true to your blog the same way you are toward the way you live life and treat people, then you will attract like-minded people. When I find a blog that I like and I follow it, I always invite them you come visit and if they like my blog to follow me back. I have a lot that don't, so then I get in the "what am I doing wrong mode". Really it is quality not quantity that you want:)
I have met so many wonderful people, including you :)
Keep Smiling and keep blogging.
Your blogging sister, Connie
Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks great and I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I like link parties and I've met some great bloggers by joining in. I'm often part of linkies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday -- just kind of grew -- and it has really become a fun part of my week. Some days I get more comments and some days less, there's no rhyme or reason. Sometimes I get the fewest comments on the posts that I think have great content. As I wrote, no rhyme or reason. I try to return comments and reach out to friends every day, though there are days I fall short. If you have any questions please feel free to be in touch. I've come to love blogging and my blog buddies have become dear friendss.
P.S. I'm your latest follower.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie - thanks for stopping at my blog. Yes, we do have a lot in common.
ReplyDeleteI think your blog is great! I don't do link parties. I used to get more comments but a lot of my former commenters have quit blogging. I agree with the others who said you have to comment to get comments. I do try to comment frequently, but I also work full time and life gets busy! I've made some good friends through blogging though, and keep in touch with several who are no longer blogging.
I'm visiting you from over at Mildred's of Blackberry Lane. It is so nice to meet you, Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteI am in the process of making changes at my blog. I think one of the most helpful things I've done was over the month of December (I was electronics free) as I prayed about my blog was to define what my purpose is for doing a blog. I think we all blog for different reasons. So I don't think it is really about it being a popularity contest...at least not for me. It is finding folks who have the same interests and similar tastes in blogging. I know Mildred will be a great help to you. She is such a sweetheart. You are now on my blog list through bloglovin'. I look forward to returning here each time you have a new post.
Bonnie...I am finding I love the old time blogs like yours, Mildred's and mine. The blogs we started because we want to make new friends and share experiences. I have found that some of my favorite blogs have turned into promotions for various products and I miss reading about the Person behind the Blog. And yes, I do think Blogging has become a competitive sport.lol....I find myself falling prey to blog envy at times but then I remember that I am doing my blog for family and friends, not to become a blog star!! Hang in there. Your blog is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! Love the title of your blog and it's all cute and sweet; bonus!
ReplyDeleteI've found that the only way to get more comments is to leave comments on others blogs. (replying to comments has never been that important to me-I love when others read my thoughts and comment)
I never do link parties; too much commitment. LOL
Best of luck to you!!!
