Where did the time go?
He's a little boy
holding grains of sand...
blink,
and he is big enough to hold his granddaddy's fishing pole...
blink again,
and it's a girl's hand that he now holds.
My nephew, my sister's son,
was born when my daughter
was a high school senior.
He was the first baby in
my immediate family in 16 years.
So, he's our heart!
Fast forward 14 years
and he's almost grown.
Sniff, Sniff!
Kinda shy,
but secure in his own skin.
I asked him what the others guys were wearing.
"Aunt Bonnie, guys don't talk about that kind of thing."
You better believe the girls do!
It didn't bother him one bit
that he was dressed in khakis, a white shirt and tie,
while all the other guys were in a tux.
Didn't seem to bother her either!
Hey, who cares anyway!
Makes the limo ride more comfortable!
Yes, A LIMO, for an 8th grade Sweetheart Dance!
I wanted to know DETAILS!
I didn't get from him or his mom.
I did get from HER mom!
Her mom told me she came home so excited.
They talked til 2 in the morning!!!
Is she not a HOOT!
The conversation between my daughter
and my nephew...
(they were on my phone)
"Are you going to the dance?"
"uh, huh."
"Are you excited?"
"uh, huh."
(They had to reschedule for the ice storm.)
"Are you disappointed that they had to reschedule?"
"uh, huh."
"Is she pretty?"
(With a raised pitch in his voice)
"UH, HUH!"
Yes, all my babies are growing up.
Sniff! Sniff!
Bonnie:)
(Able to upload photos from my downloads)
They look like they're having fun. He looks good in his khakis and her dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you here today - you've been in my prayers!
Well, I'm glad you finally got "scoop" out of her mom at least! I love scoop! So happy they had a great time. Beautiful photos of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute couple...Of course you wouldn't get any info from the guy :)
ReplyDeleteI remember those special dances and all of the excitement with all of the details. I must admit, I got a bit choked up with nostalgia reading this post..Daughter is now grown with 4 children of her own..time does fly.
I am excited that Stephanie chose me to send you a special tea cup in the exchange. I will be sending in the mail by the end of the week.
Have a lovely day! xo
Absoulty adorable. (please excuse any misspellings)--which reminds me..I will post about it later..anyways--just lovely..your nephew is just plum handsome. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI far prefer the khakis, gorgeous young man and young woman :-). They do grow up and all too quickly...
ReplyDeleteDon' tell...but this is so cute. It is almost sad for us older ones to see the young...they are growing up too fast. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYour nephew is so cute! (Don't share that, it will embarrass him ... per my Hubby ... ha ha). She's a pretty girl too. Good for him not worrying about what others do or wear. Guys really don't care Aunt Bonnie. *smile*
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such nice photos! Kinda brightened my day. ~:)

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post, a fun time for them, and a handsome, young man.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome young man and a cute young lady. Tuxedos for the 8th grade? That is a little crazy to me….I like the khakis with a colorful tie much better.
