The Next Best Thing to Being There

If you read my blog post,
you know I was having a bum day yesterday.

My Daughter-in-law saw it and
sent me this message,

"I read your blog and today when you
are feeling down, just take a peek at this
little lady:) and hopefully she will be your
sunshine to pull you through."

I tell you what, this smile changes everything!

And she said,
"And here is a happy little wild man who loves
his Bonbon and talks about her often:)"

He's our happy, bouncy boy and

he loves his sissy and she adores him.

I texted back,
"Oh thank you so much.  Love our little buttercup
and our little munchkin.  They are my heart, for sure.
Yes, it does make me feel better and makes me smile."

When Mr. H walked in today,
the first thing he said was,
"Were those not the cutest pictures you have ever seen."

Yelp, the next best thing to being there!

The babies love my Son-in-law.
He's going to be a great dad someday.
Our heart is big enough for a houseful of GRANDS.

We don't have much to offer them materially.
It makes me sad sometimes that we can't
give them all the things we'd like to give them,
but our heart can give love in ABUNDANCE!

Surely My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord,

Bonnie:)

  1. Bonnie, Loving memories are more important than material things... I also hate to see the kids do without in certain things. But some times, we just do what we can. Loving letters and cards , a kind word ,hugs. In the end it will mean the world to them. Look to the small things, for one day they will be the big things in life. This is a quote for someone else. But oh boy does it ever fit at times. Once my grand daughter turned 16, I could have given her money, or a sweater , or something else to be forgotten...so instead, I got a young man from church to sing some songs to her, "happy birthday" Blackbird(beetles tune) and She's Sixteen", and her mother recorded it. Sierra has never forgotten that gift. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

  5. Oh Bonnie...it isn't the material things we give our Grands that endear us to them. We have a similar situation when it comes to one set of grandparents being able to give out money and "makes things happen" for the kids. We aren't able to do that...but when they come to visit, they come running with arms wide open and such sincerity in their voices saying, "Oh Gramma! I have missed you so much!" It is times like that that the Lord encourages my heart and says, "See! What did I tell you?"

You have abundant love that I know you share with your precious ones. They are blessed to have such a sweet and loving Bonbon.

May the Lord richly bless your daughter for seeing the need and doing what she could to encourage your heart.

    Love you, Sister!

  6. Oh Bonnie, bless your heart. This was a loving post, and quite touching to the heart.
Being a grand parent is joy in it self. There is nothing like the LOVE that comes from the heart of a grandparent. They have the extra time to love on those precious babies and fill their hearts with special memories that only grandparents seem to have time to share.
It's not about the "things" and they will grow up to find that out for themselves. Just give them yourself.
You were well looked after yesterday. God is gracious in every area of our lives. :)
Have a blessed day my friend!
    Joy! Debbie

  8. We aren't able to give our kids or the Grands all we would like to either. When I stopped working we had to live on half our income. It's not easy. But, just like you, we have an abundance of love for them...and they know that =)
Blessings! Those pics would brighten the darkest day, for sure!

  9. I've been having trouble leaving comments, so this may be a duplicate. I loved this post, because I feel the same way about our grands. They can bring a smile to my face just by being their sweet selves. :)

  12. She's a doll!! Funny but she has the same crooked smile like I do. I still smile like that. Guess she will also.

The grands don't need stuff that passes away and means nothing. From you the only thing they require is your love, guidance and companionship. That's what lasts forever.

    Luv ~:)

  13. Oh my...how God does send those blessings...JUST when we need them most, am I right?? What precious babies!! We are so much in the same boat when it come to finances too but you know what? My older grands who are used to getting just about everyhting they want from the "other" side, just love spending time with us...in fact, I think they even prefer our company sometimes! Blessings, friend!
