God is Stronger than My Broken Relationships

I love the heavy ironstone
that takes up space in my
every nook and cranny.

I found this platter
at the estate sale.

It wasn't perfect.

Neither I am.

It was chipped and broken.

So, am I.

The natural aging process,
has taken away the shine.

Lord, don't let me lose the shine.

My mama always prayed,
"Lord, let me age gracefully."

She did.

I am attracted to broken pieces.
Maybe because I have been broken.

Angela Thomas says,
I have my own journey, but everyone I meet
has been touched by at least one broken relationship.

You know the stories:

Children who haven't spoken to a parent in years
Siblings who are estranged
Distanced relationships
Divorced husbands
Broken friendships
Isolated neighbors
Misunderstanding
Harsh words spoken in a moment of anger

God can heal a broken heart, but He has to have all the pieces.

WOW!

How I hold on the my hurt,
nurse my wounds,
and
enjoy my pain.

Angela says,
Sometimes our broken relationships
involve the healthy decision to leave
the presence of a fool.

Proverbs 14:7 says
Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.

However, not without brokenness.

Sometimes a relationship has to be severed,
especially if it has become toxic, abusive and destructive.

Broken.

I googled "broken heart."

This is what popped up,
"There are no standard treatment guidelines
for treating broken heart syndrome.
Treatment is similar to treatment for a heart attack
until the diagnosis is clear."

Can you believe that there is a medical diagnosis
called "Broken Heart Syndrome?"

"Broken Heart Syndrome is a temporary heart
condition brought on by a stressful situation."

We have a Stronger Healer, Jesus
who has the remedy for a broken heart.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18

But He was pieced for our transgressions;  he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought our peace,
and by His wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

God is stronger than my brokenness.

Living Stronger,
Bonnie:)

  3. Reading your post gave me a "God Moment" ~ as I remembered broken moments in our family, and only God's grace and time did the healing. Thanks you Bonnie for digging deep in our hearts and making us remember.

When I was at a Women's Retreat years ago. We took broken pieces of china tea cups and saucers and made beautiful brooches. Some made beautiful frames. Jesus takes our brokenness and makes something beautiful of our lives. Love that song.

Sending hug and blessings dear Bonnie.

  5. Wow..dear friend..I am speechless..but..often I am when visiting here..how is it you can know what to say when I am thinking/feeling nearly the same? I like to say "fractured" but not broken. My son says, "You can't break me, I'm not fine china." LOL- Silly kid..but he does have a point. Blessings

  7. Hi Bonnie! This was a beautiful, heartfelt post...I think we can all relate to it in one way or another. God is our healer..amen! I see that your heart belongs in Nashville...so does part of mine! Our youngest who is 31 has been there since college and now has a family of his own with a precious wife and our two youngest grands...a boy who turned 7 yesterday and our one and only grand-daughter who is 5. We make trips there a couple of times a year...between times they come see us in NC or to our cabin in VA. I am now following YOU :)

  12. Bonnie,
Oh Yes, I have had a broken heart at different times in my life. And God has been there for me every time. What a nice post this is, and I liked how you used your chipped, broken dishes to accompany your story.

Have a peaceful week, and I'm so glad to hear that you are trying to recover from your broken heart.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

  13. Thanks for the concepts you write about through this site. In addition, Cardsharing Server several young women exactly who become pregnant tend not to even seek to get medical insurance because they have anxiety they probably would not qualify.

  15. Excellent lesson. And when we give our hearts to Jesus, who was broken, folded and mutilated for our sakes, we become whole. We break our own lives, he fixes it with His perfect glue of truth. He gave himself for our transgressions. Thank you for reminding us of that.

BTW, do y'all have an antique or thrift store type business there in Washington county? If so, may I please trouble you to give us the name and address next time it's convenient? Sweetie and I would like to pay it a visit next trip up there. Don't know when that'll be but I like places like that and would like to stop in. Thanks so much.

Hope your day was a happy one! ~:)
