A Visit to the Church at Old Town Bluffton

The Church of the Cross
Old Town Bluffton, South Carolina

On the last day of our vacation, my daughter and son-in-law took me to the neighboring town of Bluffton.
It was a darling little town.  In preparation for the Lord's Day, I thought I'd share with you this darling little church and its mission.

The Cross is the symbol of Christianity.

I thought it very appropirate that the cross was bolted to the door knob.  Christ stands at the door of every heart and knocks.

The Church of the Cross proclaims this message, "A powerful experience where anyone can walk through the doors and be welcomed."

It was beautiful!  The wood gave the resemblance of an old barn.

The roof showed some brass-like blue discoloration.  Made me wonder if it was truly a tin roof.  It was truly a beauty!  The bell was typical of the old school/church bells of yesteryears.

I loved the bay-like structure and the brick foundation.
Made me think of  the song, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand."

Another portion of the song comforts me tonight...

...When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on his unchanging grace...

Grace....the message of the cross...no other word, but amazing!

The Mission Statement

The Church of the Cross sits on this side of the bluff.  The trees provided a shade from the enormous heat.  I like to think that Jesus is the shade from the excruciatingly hot trials that come our way-a shelter in the time of storm.

How ironic-a fishing dock at the edge of the bluff.
Jesus called us to be Fishers of Men.

So many messages that I found on this visit to Bluffton.

The Vision of the church was "To be followers of Jesus committed to transforming lives in His power and for His glory."

Amen.

Have a blessed Lord's Day,

Bonnie
