You can't call Zeke a young'n. No, I'd have to say he's quite a young man for a 15 year old. A fruit and vegetable stand man, he has been selling in our little town since he was 12 or 13 years old.
This scale belonged to his grandfather and has endured 5 generations.
Zeke is what I call a good, ole country boy who knows what it's like to earn his pay. I went to the Godfrey Tree Farm to get my Christmas tree last year and Zeke was there, helping the Godfreys trim and load trees.
He's learned early the value of a dollar. I asked him to let me snap a photo of the money. He reluctantly held out a wad of bills folded up and clutched tightly.
Enduring the 100+ heat on any given day, Zeke can be found selling the best produce in and around Washington County.
Need a watermelon or peaches for July 4? See Zeke.
My favorite! Summer fruit and veggie stands...congratulations to you both for the lessons of this kind of thing!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like he and his parents deserve a standing ovation. I would love to have someone similar here. The farmer's market is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. How wonderful it would be to support a responsible young man.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing a young person working like that. I also love to support teenagers in whatever way I can. Good for him!
ReplyDeleteI pray that my son...and daughter will turn out like that!! Thanks for the visit :) Laurel
