Mr. H and I are going on a little road trip for the 4th-just the two of us and about 50 million others on the road.
This started me to thinking...this time 34 years ago, we were planning our wedding. Well, let me take that back. I was planning OUR wedding. Mr. H was just going along for the ride.
It all began with a Raggedy Andy.
It was December 20, 1976. I was 16 years old and was enjoying flirting with every boy in the youth group. We had played the game WINK a thousand times and Fruit Basket Turnover and If You Love Me Honey, Smile and being one of only 3 or 4 girls there among 15-20 boys, we were enjoying all the attention.
It was time for the Chinese Christmas Gift Exchange. Someone had brought a small Raggedy Andy and I wanted it...so did everyone else.
I was surprised when a much younger Mr. H did his best to make sure that I got the gift that I wanted. The game kept going and eventually I lost Mr. Andy.
The annual Christmas Caroling took place a couple of days later. It was freeeezing. Mr. H asked if I was cold and grabbed my hand. Whew! How romantic, I know. I am fanning myself just remembering it!
Nothing else was said about Mr. Andy.
On Christmas Eve day, I had a surprise visit. Mr. H stood in my doorway with a wrapped present. We weren't even dating, but he stole my heart! I unwrapped the package to find a much larger Raggedy Andy and the rest is history...
We were married on July 8, 1978.
After 34 years, Mr. Andy still resides in our home today:)
Thankful today that after 34 years, Mr. H still has my heart!
Awwwww, that's so sweet! Thanks for sharing that.

Happy 4th and almost anniversary, Bonnie: That was a really great story and brings back a few memories. I can remember sitting around the campfire at 4H camp and having a little smooch time with your best guy (at the time). I guess because there weren't any lights on we didn't think the councellors (who mostly were our moms) could see us. I never got a Raggety Andy though.. Hope you are having a great summer and thank you so much for your kind words to me...Judy
