Today I Needed to See the Pink Peek Through

Went to see Uncle Junk today.

Found this great watering can.
It's not vintage, but has been used often,
chippy on the inside.

The baby doll stroller IS VINTAGE!

The wicker is broken some, but the wheels are just fine.

You know I'm jumping up and down about the pink patina.
Love, love, love!

You can even see the pink peeking through.

Today I needed to see the pink peek through.

I've had to fight the dreaded malady of Bipolar Disorder all week,
the depression part is debilitating at times.
It only takes one small incident to send me sinking.
Today I felt myself sinking.

I only made two stops and I was ready to go.
The jump-up-and-downs are just that, up and down.

Today I went to visit a hurting friend.
I was afraid and tired.

She lost her 36 year old daughter to cancer last week.
She had a 10 year old daughter.

My friend has been dealing with her own illness for 25 years.
She knows pain every day.
She feels isolated and alone.

I know isolation.  I know loneliness.
But nothing like the pain she now knows.
I stayed two hours.

I felt better.
I think she did too.

  1. So true.... Anytime we feel sorry for ourselves (for good or bad reasons) ---the best way to feel better is to get out and visit someone who is MUCH WORSE OFF than us..... Works for sure!!!! God helps us through these highs and lows in our life... God Bless You.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. I love your "finds" and hope they brightened your spirits a bit...How hard it is to visit with someone in that situation. What to say? What not to say? The fact that you did it is something your friend will long appreciate. Hope tomorrow dawns brighter.

  4. Hi Bonnie,
Your post brought to mind the hymn "All The Way My Savior Leads Me" by Fanny Crosby. The words are very comforting to me.

Sending my love to you. Praying for you.

  5. How very hard, but your visit will mean so much to her. We all need each other don't we. In the good times and bad. I know you were a tremendous comfort to her.

I do love that hymn that Mildred quoted.

  11. I didn't realize that you suffer from bipolar disorder. I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't know that much about it other than I've heard that it's like living on a roller coaster of emotions. I'm sure your friend was happy to have you visit her. It probably did both of you some good. So sorry for her loss!

  12. So sorry the old malady reared it's ugly head again. We've all got our sack of rocks to carry through life, don't we. *sigh* I pray that you'll never be plagued again.

The finds are nice. Where did you end up placing them? ~:)

  13. Hello Dear One.
I just read bipolar and thought of my son. He has recently been diagnosed with this. This is a very new area for me as I research it and pray. Many, many people have this and as I learn more about it, I am hopeful that we'll be alright.

Many people are diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Many have this and live full lives. Many. I don't know one person that isn't challenged with something. Not one.

    Blessings to you,
    d

  14. I can only imagine what living with bipolar disorder must be like. I have other friends who suffer with is and I have seen and felt their ups and downs. But you did exactly what we all should when we battling our own issues...you went and visited a hurting friend, in the midst of your own hurt. I am so sure she appreciated it greatly and I know it surely made your day better as well! Hugs to you, my friend :)
